Elden Ring 1.16 Patch Notes (Elden Ring Version 1.16)

Elden Ring update 1.16 patch notes are now available for PS4, PC, and Xbox players. According to the official Elden Ring patch notes, the latest update added stability fixes. Apart from this, Elden Ring version 1.16 also includes various bug fixes and improvements.

Previously, a majorupdate 1.05 added new changes, fixes, and improvements. Recently, update 1.06 and update 1.09 were released with some minor changes. Unfortunately, players are still facing issues related to Elden Ring save file location. Today’s Elden Ring patch 1.16 will fix a few of these issues.

Elden Ring 1.16 Patch Notes (Update) – October 17, 2024

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where temporary boosts to player stats would remain even after closing and restarting the game.
  • Several other bug fixes.

Possible unstable performance fixes

  • For the PS5 version of the game, unstable framerate may be improved by using the “Rebuild Database” option from the device’s safe mode.
  • In some PC versions, Ray Tracing may be unintentionally enabled and cause unstable performance. Please check the Ray Tracing setting in the “System” > “Graphics ” > “Ray Tracing Quality” from the title screen or in-game menu.
  • In the PC version, the message “Inappropriate activity detected” may appear without cheating.

To fix this issue, please verify the integrity of the game’s files before restarting the game.

  • In the PC version, unstable framerate may be caused by third party applications that control mouse behavior. Deactivating these third party applications may improve performance.

Gameplay Fixes

  • Shadow Keep Church District:
    Fixed a bug where the cutscene would replay when re-entering the area.
  • Golem Fist Weapon:
    • Fixed a bug where some Golem Fist weapon attacks would not deal damage when the player was affected by certain special effects.
    • Fixed a bug where the Golem Fist one-handed heavy attack power was lower than expected.
  • Aspects of the Crucible: Thorns:
    Resolved an issue preventing the incantation from being cast when used in quick succession.
  • Smithing Talisman:
    Fixed a bug where the talisman’s effect did not apply to some weapons’ throwing attacks.
  • Scadutree Avatar Battle Arena:
    Fixed a bug preventing the use of ashes in certain areas of the battle arena.
  • Rellana, Twin Moon Knight:
    Fixed a bug where Rellana would sometimes perform unexpected actions when interacting with objects in the battle area.
  • Skills and Weapons Combination:
    Resolved a bug that allowed Skills to be used in incorrect combinations with Weapons under certain circumstances.

Visual and Audio Fixes

  • Enemy Behavior and Rendering:
    Fixed a bug that caused unexpected rendering and behavior of some enemies under certain conditions.
  • Sound Effects:
    Fixed an issue where some sound effects did not play correctly.

General Fixes

  • Performance Improvements:
    Implemented several performance improvements and various other bug fixes.
  • End Credits:
    Further fixes were added to the game’s end credits.

Stability and Performance Improvements

  • PS5 Stability:
    Unstable framerate may be improved by using the “Rebuild Database” option from the device’s Safe Mode.

The Colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell and Caelid will open their gates, allowing players to engage in battles such as duels, free-for-alls and team fights.

Major new features

– The Colosseums of Limgrave, Caelid and Leyndell are now open.

In these arenas, players can engage in a variety of combat trials: one-on-one duels, free-for-alls & team battles up to six players, and special fights with spirit summoning enabled.

– New hairstyles for character creation have been added. These are also available during character edition by using the Round Table Hold Clouded Mirror Stand.

PvP-exclusive balance adjustments

The adjustments in this section do not affect single-player or cooperative play.

  • Reduced thrusting weapons counterattack damage.
  • Reduced guard efficiency when attacking with your shield up for some weapon types.
  • The poise damage of the following weapons have been reduced (Weapon Arts poise damage remains unchanged):
    • Straight Swords / Thrusting Swords / Heavy Thrusting Swords / Curved Swords / Axes / Spears / Twinblade Swords / Katanas
  • Reduced the poise damage of the Incantation Bestial Sling.
  • Reduced the power of the Spell Carian Slicer.

General balance adjustments

  • Increased the speed and distance of some attacks and reduced the recovery time for the following weapons:
    • Daggers / Axes / Hammers / Flails (dual wielded)
  • Increased the speed of some attacks and reduced the recovery time for the following weapons:
    • Twinblade (two-handed) / Reaper / Fist / Claw
  • Slightly increased the speed of crouching and rolling attacks of Colossal Swords.
  • Increased the stagger damage of Axes’ guard counters.
  • Increased poise when attacking with two-handed Hammers.
  • Increased poise damage of Claws. Weapon Arts remain unchanged.
  • Increased poise value during the active part of the Stamp (Upward Cut / Sweep) Weapon Art.
  • Increased poise damage of the weapon slash part of the Transient Moonlight Weapon Art, and reduced the poise damage of the magic wave.
  • Reduced the speed Thrusting Swords and Heavy Thrusting Swords crouching attacks.
  • Reduced the stagger caused by double-handed Heavy Thrusting Swords jumping attacks.
  • Reduced poise damage of Hammers, Great Hammers, and some Colossal Weapons. Weapon Arts remain unchanged.
  • Reduced the poise damage of the Cragblade Weapon Art.
  • Reduced hitbox duration of the flame portion of the Flaming Strike Weapon Art.
  • Reduced poise damage of the Flame of the Redmanes Weapon Art.
  • Reduced the time it takes to activate the guard part of the Shield Bash Weapon Art.
  • Reduced the poise damage of the Gravity Bolt Weapon Art.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented consumable items from being replenished when teleporting to a grace from the map.
  • Fixed a bug where stamina would replenish when switching to a crouching position while running.
  • Fixed a bug where Spell, Incantation, and item input actions were ignored while guarding against attacks.
  • Fixed incorrect physical attack values of some attacks of the Serpent-Hunter weapon.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the follow-up attack from occurring when the Black Sword Incantation was activated with a Sacred Seal in the left hand.
  • Fixed a bug where the attack power of the right hand weapon was sometimes applied when casting the Inescapable Frenzy Incantation with a two-handed Sacred Seal in the left hand.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause multiple damage instances when certain Spells and Incantations were casted while jumping.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Weapon Arts to be incorrectly used with specific combinations of weapon and Weapon Arts.
