Rec Room 3.58 Patch Notes (November 12, 2021)

Avatar Refresh

As a note, we’re updating some of our older avatar items so they’ll look a bit more up to date! These changes range from updating the textures and materials to be more representative of their real-world textiles (like metal buttons that look metal instead of like cloth!) to model/shape updates to be more in-style with our more recent avatar creations.Stay tuned for those changes to slowly roll out these next few updates.

General Improvements and Bug Fixes
  • We’re experimenting with showing some “similar rooms” in the watch when looking at the page for a room.
  • Added a “owned items” toggle to the avatar customization screen. This will filter down to items that you already own.
  • CV2 event names in configuration dropdowns should now appear in alphabetical order, instead of “who knows!” order.
  • Fixed a spawn point on Spillway which would spawn you without a gun.
  • Fixed an issue with the “Adjust” button not displaying on item cards when doing search in Avatar Customization.
  • Fixed a bug where VR teleport players in Seated mode could get stuck in or under a seat when they exited one.
  • <code>Get Local Player Leaderboard Stat Node</code> has been renamed to <code>Get Local Player Leaderboard Stat</code>
  • Resolved issues with multiplayer undo of chip position.
  • The Circuits V2 Vector (different from Vector3) type is now called Vector Gadget.
  • Circuits V2 Raycast now has an output port for surface normal.
  • Circuits V2 Player Add Role and Player Remove Role require significantly less CPU heat.
  • New Circuits V2 chips in beta: Add Tag, Get First Player with Role, Get First Tag, Get Object with Tag, Remove Tag, Trigger Handle Get Primary Action Held. New variants of tag chips work with individual tags but use less CPU heat.
  • The Circuits V2 Get New Line chip is out of beta.
  • Fixed a typo in the List Any True CV2 chip description.
  • Added social media sharing to{LINK REMOVED}Share your in-game photos to social media.
  • New users will be able to add Rec Room friends from their platform friends or contacts list during the account creation process. Start your Rec Room experience off right by playing with your friends from your very first log-in!
  • We reduced instances of teleporting into bad collision situations.
  • Circuits V2 seats will no longer have “Locomotion Collision Enabled” toggle in their configuration menu. Instead, there is a new “Seat Collision Enabled” toggle that allows turning on and off seat collision as a whole under the Seat section of the configuration menu. Circuits V2 seats that are previously saved with locomotion collision disabled will by default have this seat collision disabled as well.
  • Fixed issues with vehicle suspension simulation that would cause wonky behaviors when configuring wheel suspension lengths or vehicle mass.
  • Trigger Handle always aims at the reticle on Screens, even while running and jumping.
  • Fixed an issue where new animation frames would not show up for other creators.
  • VR player hands are now restricted to a reasonable distance from the player.

VR “Aim-Flying” (where you hold the jump/teleport button and point your hand where you want to go) no longer slowly accelerates. The power to control your acceleration is back in your hands!

  • Walking VR players who are using the “Legacy Flying” option can once again press the jump button to stop flying.
  • We’ve tossed out all the dried-up markers that didn’t work well on sticky notes and got some fresh ones.
  • Players can now interact with physical maker pen shapes on non-PC platforms.
  • Fixed a bug where you couldn’t configure the Gibbet enemy in a Spawner.
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes tubes would change size as you save the room if created while self-scaling. No more sudden small spaghetti strings!
  • Some fantastic PC settings now have Ambient Occlusion enabled. The Stream camera is supported, but sadly VR is not supported.
  • We’ve stopped sending “I started a chat” messages from players. Now we only send a system message when first starting a chat. We also fixed a bug that was sending “I started a chat” messages when opening an existing chat.
  • Fixed an issue when it was not possible to edit an announcement message after it was created or opened to edit at least once.
  • Fixed an issue when adding an invalid room tag that prevented players from adding any other tags until that invalid tag was removed.
  • Fixed an issue with RR+ item menus stacking improperly in the Merch Booth.
  • Fixed an issue when duplicates of the same invention appeared in the “Used Inventions” list of a room’s details if the invention was used more than once in subrooms.

Fixed an issue with tooltips not being reset correctly when navigating the menu in the cafe in Rec Center. Also fixed a typo in the motion turn setting tooltip – it’s the little things, folks.

  • Fixed a line wrapping issue in the radial gesture menu and adjusted line spacing and text positioning slightly to improve the balance of space around two lined text in that menu.
