MLB The Show 21 patch 1.14 notes (1.014)

GAMEPLAY

  • Higher loss of break for aiming a sinker, changeup, or curveball high in the zone (based on the starting point of the pitch)
  • Fixed an issue that would cause a lack of a tag animation when the runner would come into the base standing instead of sliding
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes allow the ball boy to rob a foul ball

STADIUMS

  • Field of Dreams will be available once the update is live. It is listed under Classic Stadiums.

As the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox step onto the diamond this week surrounded by massive corn stocks, you too can step onto the field with this update and live out your dreams. The team at San Diego Studio worked closely with the field architects and MLB to accurately replicate this one-of-a-kind field. We didn’t stop with just adding this iconic stadium to MLB® THE SHOW™ 21, but we have an entire week of live content dedicated to Field of Dreams.

UI

  • Pitcher’s handedness is now displayed correctly when viewing the opponent’s bullpen

MISC

  • Adjustments made for more appropriate crowd reactions with home and away plays
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally prevent crowd audio from playing during the top of the first inning
  • Updates to the faces of Sal Romano, Clay Holmes, Clayton Kershaw, Darin Ruf, Sergio Romo, and Joey Gallo

The following changes were added previously.

ONLINE HEAD TO HEAD

Pinpoint Pitching adjustments:

The Release timing and direction now have a less lenient criteria for ‘Good’ and ‘Perfect’ pitches. NOTE: This change can also be seen when using competitive gameplay style settings in offline modes.

Contact Swing is now less effective when used by power hitters. The higher the power, the greater the loss in mph when you choose to use Contact Swing.  This change should now display a more accurate tradeoff between each swing type for high power batters.

Batters pressing R2 to view the pitch history will no longer impact the gesture portion of Pinpoint Pitching for the defensive player. If R2 is pressed at the same time or after the pitch motion is started, R2 will no longer interrupt the defensive user. If the batter presses R2 before the pitch motion has started, the motion will not start.

Other changes and fixes:
  • Added confirmation a dialog to the friendly quit acceptance flow
  • Users are no longer able to back out of the bullpen screen following a second mound visit
  • Addressed a freeze that could happen when a ground ball is hit to second and thrown to first
