Escape From Tarkov Update 0.16.2 Patch Notes (EFT 0.16.2)

A new Escape From Tarkov update 0.16.2 is now available to download on PC(Steam). According to the official Tarkov patch notes, the latest update improves performance, AI behavior, and fixes multiple game-breaking bugs. Bosses now have a 30% spawn chance, while AI combat logic and detection have been refined. Apart from this Escape From Tarkov patch 16.2 also addresses bot behavior, rendering issues, and inventory errors.

Previously, a major update added a new character model, emotes, and an improved tutorial. Unfortunately, players are still experiencing several issues. Today’s EFT patch 16.2 will fix a few of these issues. Read more details below.

Tarkov Patch 0.16.2 Notes – March 17, 2025

Summary of Key Changes:

  • Performance optimizations for Customs and overall memory usage.
  • Boss spawn rates adjusted, with a 30% chance for all Bosses and increased Cultist presence.
  • AI behavior improvements, including better targeting, weapon usage, and faction interactions.
  • Fixes for major bugs, such as bot behavior issues, rendering problems, and item-related errors.
  • Localization updates for interface, items, and tasks.

Performance Improvements

Optimizations:

  • Enhanced performance on Customs.
  • Improved memory consumption in all locations.
  • Optimized shadow quality settings to improve FPS on low-end PCs.

AI Changes & Improvements

Spawn Adjustments:

  • All Bosses now have a 30% spawn chance.
  • Cultists spawn rate increased in PvE and PvP modes.
  • Partisan spawn rate reduced in PvE mode.
  • Player Scavs now spawn no earlier than 17 minutes into the raid (except for Factory, Reserve, and Ground Zero).
  • Higher Fence reputation increases the chance of spawning with better Scav gear.

Combat & Behavior Updates:

  • Increased durability of AI PMC weapons.
  • Sniper Scavs & regular Scavs now have 30 head HP.
  • AI PMCs, Raiders, and Rogues maintain 35 head HP.
  • AI PMCs now detect enemies 20% faster than regular bots.
  • AI PMCs now switch to single fire at long range and full auto at close range.
  • Bots turn their heads toward potential threats to improve target acquisition.
  • Regular bots no longer take cover in vegetation.
  • Bots cannot see through vegetation unless an enemy is very close.
  • Bot vision is reduced inside vegetation for more realistic behavior.

Bug Fixes

AI & Combat Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where bots with shotguns or pistols wouldn’t take cover at long range.
  • Fixed bots not reacting to noise sources.
  • Fixed bots spawning too close to PMCs at the start of a raid.
  • Fixed bots remaining stuck in vegetation after taking damage.
  • Fixed bots switching fire modes too frequently based on distance.
  • Fixed bots walking through closed doors in some cases.

Graphics & UI Fixes:

  • Fixed several glass rendering issues.
  • Fixed RSP flares not glowing after being fired.
  • Fixed main game monitor detection issues.
  • Fixed incorrect trading UI when buying long items (7+ cells).

Item & Inventory Fixes:

  • Fixed MTs-255 shotgun being unable to fire while mounted.
  • Fixed transferring an equipped dogtag to the sorting table.
  • Fixed issues preventing opening containers in stash—items that don’t fit now move to the sorting table.
  • Fixed missing rewards in Cultist Circle under certain conditions.

Localization & Miscellaneous Fixes:

  • Various interface, item, and task localization improvements.
  • Fixed teleportation issues on certain map edges.
  • Clicking on the Cultist Circle notification now takes you directly to the Cultist Circle Hideout zone.
