Dead by Daylight Update 8.500 Patch Notes (DBD v8.5)

Dead by Daylight update 8.500 (8.500.000) details are now available for PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox One. According to the official DBD update 8.500 patch notes, the latest update bring a major overhaul to The Nightmare, improving his Dream Abilities, Wake Up mechanics, and add-ons. Apart from this, DBD patch 8.500 also includes perk reworks, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements across all areas of the game.

Killer Rework – The Nightmare

Base Kit Changes

  • Dream Snares & Dream Pallets are now part of the base kit.
  • Tap the Ability Button to switch between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets.
  • Dream Snares are now ground projectiles.
  • Dream Pallets can be ruptured from a distance.
  • Dream Projection can now be used on completed generators.

Dream World Updates

  • Minor visual improvements.
  • Improved clarity for nearest asleep Survivors.
  • Survivors in Dream World are Oblivious but hear The Nightmare’s Lullaby.
  • Survivors performing a healing action on a Sleeping Survivor are revealed with Killer Instinct.
  • Survivors wake up when put in the Dying State.

Dream Snares

  • Power Button: Charge a Dream Snare over 0.35 seconds.
  • Attack Button: Launches the Snare forward at 12 m/s, up to 18 meters.
  • Dream Snares pass through walls and follow slopes but do not go off ledges.
  • Adds 30 seconds to an awake Survivor’s Sleep Meter.
  • Sleeping Survivors suffer a 12% Hindered penalty for 4.5 seconds.
  • Cooldown: 7 seconds.

Dream Pallets

  • Power Button: Enter Pallet Focus Mode.
  • Attack Button: Spawn a Dream Pallet up to 24 meters away.
  • Can create up to 8 Dream Pallets at once.
  • Rupture Mechanic:
    • Target a Dream Pallet and use Rupture.
    • 1.5s delay, then explodes in a burst of blood.
    • Rupture adds 60 seconds to an awake Survivor’s Sleep Meter.
    • Rupture injures Sleeping Survivors.
    • Rupture range: 3.5 meters.
    • Cooldown: 1.5 seconds.
    • Cannot be canceled.
  • Dream Pallets can be dropped and stun The Nightmare, but they explode in blood.

Dream Projection

  • Can now be used on all generators (unrepaired, partially repaired, completed, and blocked).
  • Can be used on Sleeping Survivors healing in the Dream World.
  • Teleport Time: 2.5 seconds (was 4 seconds).
  • Survivors within 8 meters are revealed with Killer Instinct for 3 seconds and gain 15 seconds on their Sleep Meter.
  • Cooldown: 30 seconds (was 45 seconds).
  • Cancelling early incurs the full cooldown.

Alarm Clocks & Wake Up Changes

  • Survivors can use any Alarm Clock to wake up (was specific locations).
  • Alarm Clock cooldown: 45 seconds.
  • Sleep Immunity: 30 seconds after using an Alarm Clock.
  • Wake Up interaction time: 5 seconds (fixed).
  • Wake Up has priority over healing.

Add-on Changes

  • New Add-ons:
    • Garden Rake: Increases Dream Snare size by 10%.
    • Wool Shirt: Decreases Dream Pallet Rupture delay by 10%.
    • Kid’s Drawing: Increases Sleep gain from Dream Abilities by 10%.
    • Sheep Block: Increases Alarm Clock cooldown by 10%.
    • Prototype Claws: Decreases Dream Snare charge time by 10%.
    • Cat Block: Decreases Dream Projection cooldown by 10%.
    • Outdoor Rope: Increases Dream Snare travel speed by 15%.
    • Green Dress: Increases Wake Up action time by 2 seconds.
    • Nancy’s Sketch: Reduces Sleep Immunity by 20% after using an Alarm Clock.
    • Unicorn Block: Increases Dream Pallet Rupture range by 0.5 meters.
    • Blue Dress: Dream Snares no longer move, last 8 seconds, and only 1 can be placed at a time.
    • Nancy’s Masterpiece: Reduces Dream Projection cooldown by 10% after hitting a Survivor with a Dream Ability.
    • Jump Rope: Increases Hindered duration from Dream Snares by 0.5 seconds.
    • Paint Thinner:
      • Survivors who drop a Dream Pallet are revealed for 6 seconds.
      • Dream Projection can be used on revealed Survivors.
      • This Dream Projection charges 100% faster.
    • “Z” Block: Survivors hit by Dream Snares or Dream Pallet Ruptures are revealed for 3 seconds.
    • Swing Chains: After using Dream Projection, all window vaults within 16 meters are blocked for 6 seconds.
    • Class Photo: Survivors in Dream World are revealed while opening Exit Gates.
    • Pill Bottle: Survivors fall asleep 10% faster after waking up, up to 50% max.
    • Red Paint Brush: Reveals auras of Survivors in Dream World when further than 32 meters. Increases Sleep Meter by 50%.
    • Black Box: Sleeping Survivors cannot exit through open Exit Gates for 15 seconds.

Feature Improvements

  • Deep Wound Progress Bar added under Mending Bar.
  • Removed darkening vignette effect of Deep Wound.
  • Hooking, Deathslinger’s Reload, Cenobite’s Teleport, and Clairvoyance interactions no longer use a progress bar.
  • Smoke effect added to unique lobby animations for certain cosmetics.
  • Generator color updated to better differentiate from highlighted objectives.
  • Perk tags improved for better searching.

Perk Updates

Killer Perks

  • Beast of Prey:
    • Gain Undetectable for 30/35/40 seconds when gaining Bloodlust for the first time (was 10/15/20 seconds).
    • Removed: Bonus Bloodpoints.
  • Fire Up:
    • Each completed generator grants a 4/5/6% boost (was 3/3.5/4%).
  • Remember Me:
    • Tokens per Obsession health state: 1 (max 3/4/5) (was 2/3/4).
    • Max Exit Gate opening time increase: 18/24/30 seconds (was 12/18/24).

Survivor Perks

  • Vigil:
    • Range increased to 16 meters (was 8 meters).
    • Recovery speed increased to 30/35/40% (was 20/25/30%).
  • Wake Up!:
    • For each alive Survivor, increase Exit Gate opening speed by 8/10/12.5% (new effect).

Bug Fixes

Audio Fixes

  • Fixed missing sound effects for multiple Killer interactions and perks.
  • Fixed incorrect volume levels for certain cosmetics and abilities.

Bots & AI Fixes

  • Fixed Bots getting stuck in place or walking indefinitely.
  • Fixed Bots using Sprint Burst improperly.

Gameplay & Character Fixes

  • Fixed animation glitches for multiple Killers.
  • Fixed issues with multiple Killer abilities missing Survivors.
  • Fixed visual issues with Nightmare’s Dream World.
  • Fixed multiple bugs with The Houndmaster’s Dog AI.

Environment & Map Fixes

  • Fixed collision issues across multiple maps.
  • Fixed unintended hiding spots.
  • Fixed incorrectly placed assets affecting gameplay.

UI & Misc Fixes

  • Fixed UI display issues in multiple menus.
  • Fixed performance issues causing crashes or lag spikes

Previously, a big Dead by Daylight update 5.4.0 was released which added a new Killer (The Onryō) and a new survivor (Yoichi Asakawa). Unfortunately, players are facing various issues with the game. Today’s Dead by Daylight patch 8.500 will address a few of these issues.
