Barotrauma Update 1.11.4.1 Patch Notes on December 8, 2025

Barotrauma update 1.11.4.1 is available to download on PC(Steam). According to the official Barotrauma patch notes, the latest update 1.11.4.1 fixes loading freezes, fire damage, pump targeting, and major MP desyncs. Adds Wallaby sub, valves, weakpoints, editor snapping, stronger NPC gear, and expanded circuit connections. Additionally, Barotrauma patch 1.11.4.1 also modding gains mission variants, new affliction controls, improved reactor compatibility, and Research Station upgrades.

Wallaby Submarine & Systems

New Submarine: Wallaby (Tier 2 Attack Class)

  • High firepower relative to size.

  • Full fabrication facilities built-in.

  • Integrated weakpoints in pipe systems that may break and cause flooding hazards.

Valves & Weakpoints

  • Weakpoints added as breakable pipes that create internal water hazards.

  • Repairable with a wrench; closing linked valves eases repair but disables connected pumps.

  • Wall weakpoints linked to hull walls, preventing wall cutting.


Editor Improvements

Visual & Tool Enhancements

  • Added level background visuals to test mode for more accurate environment previews.

  • Rotation tool now snaps to 1° increments; scale tool to 0.1.

  • Holding Shift temporarily disables snapping.

Circuit & Relay Upgrades

  • Circuit boxes now include input/output slots 0–9 for full 0-indexed compatibility.

  • Relays increased from 2 to 5 signal connections.


Gameplay Adjustments

NPC Combat Balancing

  • High-level enemy NPCs improved with upgraded gear.

CPR Logic

  • CPR revival disabled when patient has no oxygen source.


Multiplayer Stability

Inventory & Spawning Fixes

  • Fixed inventories and wallets resetting when characters despawn mid-round.

  • Characters no longer spawn until client fully loads in long load scenarios.

Timeout & Connection Improvements

  • Adjusted timeout thresholds to reduce “timed out,” “expected old event,” and “expected removed event.”

  • Server config now allows editing many timeout values.

Additional Multiplayer Fixes

  • AFK no longer stays enabled when loading a campaign.

  • Improved direct join prompt (autofocus + Enter to confirm).

  • Non-player teams no longer affected by friendly fire settings.

  • Selector component move signals now sync correctly.

  • Fixed timed detonators retaining zero timers across rounds.


General Fixes

Loading, Sonar & Reactor

  • Fixed freezes at 80% load due to Steam authentication failures.

  • Explosions now appear correctly on sonar through linked monitors.

  • Reactor autoadjustment no longer triggers when powered off or signal-controlled.

Fire, Items & Hulls

  • Improved fire damage gap calculations.

  • Fixed items disappearing when dropped partially through doorways.

  • Editor hull water addition now works immediately.

Monsters & Missions

  • Prevented monsters spawning too close to enemy subs in sub-vs-sub missions.

  • Sonar-visible loot no longer appears when held by monsters.

  • “Eliminate thalamus” mission now works in MP below difficulty 50.

  • Outpost NPCs no longer panic over dead pets.

  • Fixed elite NPC dual-wield and pump target level logic.

Affliction & Equipment Fixes

  • Husk variants no longer silence characters if the variant allows speech.

  • Rifle scopes cannot be aimed while stunned or unconscious.

  • Circuit boxes save wires even when empty.

  • Loaders now transfer wires correctly when swapped.

  • Fabricators no longer treat thalamus veins as wires.

  • Turret operator assignment no longer errors with one-turret subs.

Monster Behavior Corrections

  • Latching creatures no longer detach on ragdoll.

  • Monsters regain movement after rope attacks.

  • Machines now immune to infected wound.

World & Economy

  • Minespawn events now spawn correctly in intended locations.

  • Portable pumps require power as intended.

  • Hidden missions no longer appear in intro scrolling text.

  • Traveling tradesman sale bonus no longer multiplies per tag.

  • Affliction icons no longer flash on death.

  • Docking ports no longer stay open with non-persistent docked subs.


Modding Enhancements

Mission & Monster Configuration

  • Added full support for mission variants in XML.

  • Monsters can be flagged as multiplayer-only in additional mission types.

Visual, Item & Sound Fixes

  • ExplosionRadiusMultiplier now affects character damage radius.

  • Preloaded character items no longer start degraded.

  • Fabricator icons correctly use actual sprite colors.

  • Fixed crash when looping streamed sound fails.

Status, Affliction & Skill Properties

  • New AffectedByAttackMultipliers property for afflictions.

  • New VitalityLossRequiredForTreatment for improved bot behavior.

  • New CanGiveMedicalSkill for precise control of skill gain.

Reactor & Weapon Modding

  • ReactorItem tag allows additional containables.

  • Assault rifle now uses universal assaultrifleammo tag.

Fabrication & Spawn Logic

  • Fabrication time no longer accelerates without skill requirements.

  • Characters properly register in-water status on first frame.

Turret, Particle & Research Station Improvements

  • Turret swaps retain HudTint.

  • Pump particles rotate correctly when mirrored.

  • Research Station supports smallitem and mediumitem, has 3 output slots, and prevents invalid-input spill.

  • Fixed crashes from chained affliction effects.

Creature Group Tags

  • Mantis set to mantisoid; Watcher set to watcheroid.

Previously, the Urban Expanses update added wallet and money functionalities to the game. Unfortunately, players are still experiencing problems with the game. Today’s Barotrauma update 1.11.4.1 will fix a few of these issues.
