[Age of Empires 4] AOE4 Update 8.1.276 Patch Notes

Age of Empires 4 Definitive Edition (AOE4) update 8.1.276 is available to download on PC (Steam). According to AOE4 patch notes, the latest update adds a new seasonal event called “World Gaia Appreciation”. Apart from this, Age of Empires 4 (AOE4) patch 8.1.276 also includes improved chat functionality on consoles, campaign progression accuracy, and performance enhancements.

Previously, a big update was released with new Maps, Spectator chat is now activated, and lots of bug fixes. Unfortunately, many players are still experiencing several issues while playing the game.

Today’s Age of Empires 4 patch 8.1.276 will fix a few of these issues.

AOE4 Patch 8.1.276 Notes – September 5, 2023

  1. Seasonal Event: World Gaia Appreciation
    • A new seasonal event called “World Gaia Appreciation” is introduced.
    • The event runs from September 5th through September 29th.
    • The event celebrates the planet and its history, including plants, animals, peoples, and civilizations.
  2. Fixes to Groups & Chats UI on Console
    • An issue where the player list was not showing when interacting with Group, Player, and Lobby chats has been fixed.
    • Players can now easily see who is in those chat groups with them.
  3. Summary Menu Fix on Xbox
    • The game will no longer crash to the Xbox Home screen when players select “Play Again” in the Summary menu while in an active group.
  4. Player Campaign Progression Fix
    • Player campaign progression now more accurately reflects where you left off when you start the campaign on Xbox console and pick up on Microsoft Store (PC).
    • Note that there is a separate bug related to Achievements carrying over from Xbox platforms to Steam when linking an Xbox Live account.
  5. Performance Improvements
    • An issue causing a noticeable decline in performance after scrolling through the match list in the Custom or Observer lobbies on Xbox consoles (and to a lesser extent on PC) has been fixed.
    • Additional stability improvements have been made to the MS Store PC version of the game, and stability logging changes have been made on the back-end to help with ongoing crash investigations.
  6. Chinese Imperial Official Supervisor Stacking
    • There is an acknowledgment of an issue that allows multiple Chinese Imperial Officials to stack their Supervise ability on a building.
    • This issue is considered an exploit and will be corrected in the near future.
  7. Upcoming Patch Teaser
    • The patch notes mention plans to release a larger patch later in the month.
    • This upcoming patch includes stability fixes, a refreshed map pool, work necessary to enable some upcoming seasonal events, and balance changes.
