Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair update 1.04 patch details

CHANGES TO THE IMPOSSIBLE LAIR: EXPLAINED

At first glance, it could be assumed that we’ve inserted an “easy-mode” into the Impossible Lair, but that’s not exactly the case.

We’ve given players more options for taking on Capital B’s sadistic platforming gauntlet:

JUST LIKE BEFORE.

You’ll notice that when you try to enter the Impossible Lair you will be presented with two options.

Option 1: The “Not So Impossible Lair” which offers up checkpoints (Checkmates, get off my back, Hyle), which save your best “Bee Shield Score.”

Option 2: The “Impossible Lair”, which is mostly for maniacs who don’t want checkpoints OR bees.

If you’re looking to experience the Impossible Lair like it was before this update, choose option 1, and always select “Start” after each of your attempts.

THE NOT SO IMPOSSIBLE LAIR: CAN I HAVE THE CHECK, MATE?

The Not So Impossible Lair is the same old Impossible Lair but with checkpoints. These checkpoints (Checkmates) function slightly differently to those you come across in regular 2D levels. Each time you pass a checkpoint, your “Bee Shield Score” will be saved. If you select a checkpoint to start from, you’ll start with bees equal to your corresponding Bee Shield Score for that section.

THE IMPOSSIBLE LAIR: LET ME GO IN NAKED, AND WHILE I AM AT IT, GIVE ME THAT GOLDEN TRY TONIC.

You’re maniacs, the lot of you. Enter the Impossible Lair without bees or checkpoints and take your shot at being galaxy brained.

Previously, the Golden Try Tonic could only be earned by getting through the Impossible Lair in one attempt after the tutorial, but now you can obtain it this way too!

OTHER 8-BITS

Musical magician Tater-Tot Tunes has remixed the entire Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair soundtrack in beautifully bleepy 8-Bit! To hear it (only applies to 2D levels), jump into the menus and flick it on!

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair update 1.04 is now available for download.
