Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Update 1.003.001 Patch Notes

Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 update 1.003.001 is available to download on PS5, Xbox and PC(Steam). According to the official Space Marine 2 patch notes, the latest update introduces the Hub Sparring Arena for friendly PvP, ultrawide PC support, and new private modes. Apart from this, WH40K Space Marine 2 version 1.003.001 also includes adjustments to weapons, AI behavior, and campaign difficulty. Bots and enemy AI are improved, offering a more challenging yet balanced experience. Weapon changes enhance gameplay, and spawn systems have been refined in PvP for better matches.

New Features

New Arena and Modes
  • Hub Sparring Arena: A special arena on the Battlebarge for friendly PvP matches within squads, available in Operations & Eternal War Game mode.
  • Ultrawide Support: Added ultrawide screen support for PC.
  • Private Operation Mode: Now allows players to play Operations solo with bots or alongside one friend without random matchmaking.
  • What’s New & Message of the Day: New in-game message displays added.
  • Custom Color Presets: Option to reset custom color presets added.

Gameplay and Balancing Tweaks

Marking Tool Updates
  • Improved responsiveness and mouse control of the Social Wheel.
  • Disabled unnecessary objects from highlighting.
  • Several minor bug fixes.
Weapon Adjustments
  • Power Fist: Fully charged attack damage significantly increased.
  • Heavy Plasma:
    • Base ammo increased by 5.
    • Blast damage radius increased.
    • Overheat per shot reduced (charged shots: 50 to 30, base shots: 20 to 15).
    • Base damage increased by 10%.
  • Aux Grenade Launcher: Ammo can now only be refilled with Ammo Boxes, not from the infinite Ammo Cache.
  • Med Stims: Now restore contested health in addition to healing.

Campaign Mode

Difficulty Adjustments
  • Veteran Difficulty:
    • Enemy aggressiveness reduced for a smoother single-player experience.
    • Player health slightly reduced to balance AI aggressiveness and armor management updates.
Bot Improvements
  • Lifted restrictions on bots to make them more effective.
  • Bots now assist with focus-firing on Zoanthropes when attacked.
  • Bots help with Gargoyle objectives and finish off enemies.
  • Fixed bugs causing bots to get stuck or run out of ammo on certain weapons.

Operations Mode

AI Director and Spawn Tweaks
  • Chaos Enemies:
    • Tzaangors with Shield: Max reduced from 10 to 4.
    • Cultists Snipers: Max reduced from 10 to 3.
    • Tzaangors: Max reduced from 30 to 20.
    • Rubric Marines with Boltguns: Max reduced from 8 to 5.
    • Rubric Marines with Warpflamers: Max reduced from 4 to 3.
Other Tweaks
  • Perfect parry now restores armor for killing minor enemies.
  • Fixed fencing weapon parry window to have 20 frames for parry and 10 frames of vulnerability.
  • Assault Class: Base ground pound damage increased by 30%.
  • Armor Boost Drops: Less frequent; cooldown raised from 30 to 60 seconds.

PVP Enhancements

  • Improved player spawn system to reduce spawn killing.
  • Reworked Vanguard’s Grapnel Launcher to stagger and slow enemies instead of fully stunning them.

AI Improvements

  • Reduced ability for ranged enemies to stunlock players.
  • Lower accuracy for ranged enemies attacking from off-screen or engaged in melee combat.
  • Hormagaunts and Tzaangors: Melee attacks now deal a fixed amount of damage instead of removing one armor segment per hit.
Enemy Specific Changes
  • Zoanthrope:
    • Psychic scream damage interval increased from 0.5s to 2s.
    • Psychic scream damage reduced from 11 to 8.
    • Effective range reduced from 50 to 40m; cast range reduced by 10m.
  • Termagant:
    • Fleshborer spray attack damage reduced (1 to 0.5; 0.3 to 0.1).
  • Tyranid Warrior with Devourer: Projectile damage reduced from 0.9 to 0.6.
  • Rubric Marine with Warpflamer:
    • Icon of flame damage reduced from 9 to 6.
    • Flamer burst damage reduced from 6 to 4.
    • Health reduced by 10%.
  • Rubric Marine with Boltgun:
    • Spray attack damage reduced from 1.5 to 1.
    • Precise shot damage reduced from 4 to 2.
    • Health reduced by 10%.
  • Tzaangor With Shield: HP greatly reduced.
  • Carnifex:
    • Rage phase updated to be faster and more aggressive.
    • Taunt frequency reduced.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where his cone of thorns attack wouldn’t fire projectiles
  • Hive Tyrant:
  • Health slightly increased.
  • Resistance to explosives and melta weapons increased by 20%.

Customization

  • Fixed icon colour for the Administratum Grey, Auric Armour Gold and Celestra Grey colours
  • Fixed several issues with default colors being wrong on some chapters (i.e. Iron Warriors)
  • Vanguard Relic Right Greave part now requires 29 victories instead of 36
  • Added a Colour pattern called “Greaves Pattern” allowing the player to customize bottom and top half of the leg separately

Maps

  • Fixed several issues that were preventing players from progressing within some levels
  • Fixed a lot of minor collision issues
  • Tweaked dust storm density and duration in Ballistic Engine operation
  • Tweaked Heldrake fire timings on the bridge in Reliquary operation
  • Trials can be now accessed via Hypnomat in Armoury
  • General fixes
  • Fixed a bug where changing loadout mid operation would restore your health
  • Improved Jump Pack Ability responsiveness
  • Fixed several issues in Trials
  • Fixed a bug where in some rare cases controls would stop working after performing a finisher
  • Fixed a bug where player does not receive armor data from Hellbrute spawned from chaos portal
  • Fixed a bug that caused Vanguard’s “Adrenaline Rush” perk description to show 1% instead of actual 10%
  • Fixed Announcer spam in Eternal War mode
  • Fixed multiple ways of duplicating ammo in Operations mode
  • Fixed a bug where Grapnel Launcher would get canceled if overlapped by small geometry
  • Fixed a bug where Tactical perk EMPEROR’S VENGEANCE did not work with Plasma Incinerator.
  • Fixed a bug where several weapons could restore more than actual contested health (i.e. Meltas, AoE weapons etc)
  • Fixed several issues that were causing loss of saves
  • Fixed an unidentified voice at the end of the story that was assigned to the wrong character.
