The Sims 4 Update 2.20 Patch Notes on September 18, 2025

The Sims 4 update 2.20 is available to download on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. According to the official Sims 4 2.20 patch notes, the latest update introduces the Playground Venue, Play Pretend interaction, and Event Planning filters, while Memory Boost Early Access brings performance improvements for PC. Apart from this, Sims 4 patch 2.20 also delivers wide-ranging bug fixes across the Base Game and multiple packs, enhancing stability, visuals, and gameplay consistency.

Playground Venue

New Playground Venue introduced as a dedicated lot type for kids.
Primarily visited by children and chaperones after school hours.
Players can share custom builds with hashtag #playground in the Gallery.

Event Planning UI

Venue Type Filter added to event planning.
Allows quick filtering by venue type (e.g., Library, Nightclub).

Play Pretend Interaction

New “Play Pretend” interaction available for child Sims.
Can be done solo or with another child under Friendly > Activities.
Includes themes: Fairy Tale Castle, House, Space Explorer, Pirate Adventure, and Island Castaway.
Each theme includes special imagination VFX.

Create a Sim

New ecru variant for the Base Game Slouch Beanie, available for teens to elders.

Life & Death: Soul’s Journey

Adjusted progression gains and added Satisfaction Point rewards per tier.

Island Living

Merfolk Bassinet added: Ocean’s Lullaby seashell-shaped bassinet for mermaid babies.

Memory Boost (Early Access) – September 23

New performance optimization feature for PC (Windows).
Improves memory usage, frame rates, lag reduction, and crash prevention.
Can be enabled in Game Options > Other > Memory Boost.
Recovery saves are tagged to distinguish boosted vs. original.

Upcoming Kit

Autumn Apparel Kit releasing October 2025, featuring seasonal outfits.

Bug Fixes

Sims with the entrepreneurial trait no longer experience sudden jumps in career level.
The “Venue Info” icon in Build Mode will stop shining when there’s nothing new to display.
A Sim writing a book can now resume it properly after being interrupted by another Sim.
Sims will no longer always sit to drink water.
Interaction progress (like cooking or writing) will no longer start from the beginning after loading.
Last Exception and Sim reset no longer trigger when exiting a Changing Table.
Fixed a color swatch display issue for a pair of jeans for Masculine Sims.
Removed a duplicate swatch shown for a sliding door.
The Holiday menu no longer closes when switching between Sims.
Fixed a swatch preview issue for a wall shelf.
The Diner outdoor sign now glows correctly.
The infant’s ‘bald’ eyebrow color swatches are now in order.
Fixed flickering on these shower floors when zooming the camera: Tranquil Waters Shower, Modern Grimpressions, Waterfall Shower, EZPZ Shower Stall, and It’s a Shower Trap.
Fingers and nails will no longer clip and distort when certain outfits are worn.
The Mournful Memories Music Box no longer has a debug name and description on all except the main swatch.
Curtains will now move when using DX11.
Death can no longer be avoided by scheduling an off-lot Event via the calendar during the death sequence.
Fixed a shape issue on a specific variant of ankle oxford shoes.

Affecting Multiple Packs

Skill cheats can now be used to lower skill.
Eyeglasses no longer look like sunglasses.
Some wall mailboxes no longer appear under Misc Appliances instead of Trash Cans & Mailboxes.
The “Summon a Privy Bush” interaction is now available for Vampire and Fairy child sims.
Some fireplaces no longer project light backwards.
Fixed a missing texture on a sweater vest when paired with some bottom assets.
Fixed texture defects on a pair of shorts when paired with several top assets.
The Undo button is no longer greyed out when making changes for occult types in CAS.

Get to Work

The Daring Hall Tree is now properly categorized under Displays instead of Decorations Misc.

Cats & Dogs

Pets no longer get deformed when traveling to another lot after aging up.
Fixed blue swatch color issues on a stair rail.
Fixed a gray swatch color issue on a chalkboard wall sculpture.

Island Living

The Mermaid bassinet is now available in Buy mode like other bassinets.
Fixed flickering water animation after a Sim performs a snorkel interaction on buoys in Sulani.

Discover University

Bike pedals now align with the Sim’s feet when riding.
Fixed a color swatch display issue for a pair of leggings on males.
Legal Case Files and Dr. Tyson’s Books of Learning are now properly categorized under Clutter instead of Sculptures.

Eco Lifestyle

Piercings now have the correct Bronze & Gold swatches displayed.

Growing Together

The Smooth Sail Diaper Pail now snaps to the Lavish One’s changing station.
The Starry Eyed Collection Banquet Table is now in the Bars category instead of Dining Tables.

For Rent

Tenant events are no longer resolved as a failure after the Property Owner fixes the issue.

Lovestruck

All color tags are now correctly applied to Canopy Dreams and Drape Desires objects.

Life & Death

Modern Grimpressions Bathroom Sink and Kitchen Sink can now be slotted at the top.
Nail polish no longer creates a texture glitch on two goth T-shirts.
Child Sims now show up as ghosts when they die from overheating or freezing.
Fixed a hat clipping issue with extended ears.
Fixed a Sim clipping into bar stools when reading while sitting.
Soul’s Journey Progression no longer grants too many points.
Sims will no longer remain in Ghost form after removing the Ghost molecule in CAS and using the Undo button.

Businesses & Hobbies

The “Paint on Me!” wallpaper now appears correctly when filtered by color.

Enchanted by Nature

Fixed a hairstyle clipping issue with hats.
The “Fertilize All Crops” interaction now works on oversized crop plants.
Gnomes brought to life for Upgrades and Repairs will no longer continuously upgrade toilets with a Composting Container, which was causing them to catch fire.

Vampires

Vampire Sims no longer constantly disappear and reappear during interactions.

Paranormal

Fixed a display issue with nail polish on a dress shirt.

Outdoor Retreat

Fern plants no longer clip when placed on roofs.

Realm of Magic

The Glass Top Stage Stairs is now properly categorized under Decorations Misc instead of Surfaces Misc.
Fixed swatch display issues on a vest shirt.

Werewolves

Fixed a display issue for a wavy hairstyle when zoomed out.

Backyard

Fixed swatch display issues on a boatneck tee.

Greenhouse Haven

Fixed thumbnail color display issues on a single door.

Sweet Slumber Party

Nails are now properly tagged for a masculine frame.

Previously, a major SIMS 4 update 2.05 added introduces a new Main Menu design, smoother performance, refreshed townie homes, and extensive bug fixes. Today’s Sims 4 version 2.20 will address a few of these issues.
