The Sims 4 Update 2.01 Patch Notes (Sims 4 2.01) – October 22, 2024

The Sims 4 update 2.01 is available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. According to the official Sims 4 2.01 patch notes, the latest update brings exciting updates with the Life & Death Expansion Pack, featuring new death reactions, ghost creation options, and improved interactions with the Grim Reaper. Apart from this, Sims 4 patch 2.01 also includes better interactions and fixes graphics issues.

Sims 4 2.01 Patch Notes – October 22, 2024

New Features

  • Death Reactions: Sims now have unique reactions to death based on traits and relationships, including crying for loved ones and retching for strangers.
  • Ghost Creation: Ghosts can be created for Sims (Child to Elder) in Create a Sim. New ghost needs include Goo Waste and Spooky Diversions.
  • Playable/Freeroaming Ghosts: Sims can choose to become a playable or free-roaming ghost upon death.
  • Widow Status: When a partner dies, Sims are no longer married but can “Ask to Stay Married” to restore their status.
  • WooHoo with Grim Reaper: Sims can WooHoo with the Grim Reaper again.
  • Ghost Behavior: Reduced frequency of autonomous ghost pranks (e.g., breaking items, creating puddles).

Build Mode Updates

  • New Picture Category: “Life Event Activity” added to help find content for Funerals and Weddings.
  • Fieldstone Bonfire Pit: New bonfire object added to the Base Game.
  • Gravestone/Urn Swap: Players can manually swap between gravestones and urns, regardless of the Sim’s location.
  • Black Shoe Variants: 10 shoes now have “true black” color options, including various ankle boots, oxfords, and pumps.

Cross-Pack Compatibility

  • Occult Urns/Tombstones: New tombstones for Aliens, Vampires, Werewolves, Spellcasters, and Merfolks.
  • Occult Swapping: Players can swap occults in Create a Sim without losing progress.
  • Ghost Pets: Elder Dog, Cat, and Horse ghosts can be created with Cats & Dogs or Horse Ranch expansions.

Graphics and Performance

  • DirectX 11: Improved GPU detection on hybrid systems to ensure DirectX 11 is used on devices with NVIDIA and AMD cards.

Bug Fixes

Console Specific

  • Cottage Living: Fixed grayscale images for crafted cross-stitch objects on PlayStation.
  • Growing Together: Puzzle images are no longer black and white on PlayStation.

Base Game Fixes

  • Sims no longer eat spoiled food autonomously.
  • Well-watered plants won’t die unexpectedly.
  • Sims won’t get stuck interacting with sleeping babies.
  • NPC Sims must now knock before entering the lot.
  • The “most recently interacted with” Sim appears first in the relationship panel.
  • Fixed texture issues on gable roofs and curved fences.
  • Mourning moodlet only triggers if Sims knew the deceased.
  • Invisible nannies now remain visible.
  • Non-binary Sims are correctly referred to as the “Birthday Sim.”
  • Guerdon Goods Nano Can 2.0 now works off-the-grid.

Multi-Pack Fixes

  • Objects placed with “moveobjects on” no longer float in the sky.

Expansion Specific Fixes

  • City Living: Apartments with pools no longer trigger loading errors.
  • Seasons: Flower arrangements from the Gallery or Library now display properly.
  • Island Living: Merfolk tombstone and urn added.
  • Eco Lifestyle: Vertical gardens now count towards the Freelance Botanist aspiration.
  • High School Years: Teens eat packed lunches from inventory during lunch hours.
  • Horse Ranch: “Bad Ranch Product” moodlet no longer appears for high-quality plants.

Paranormal Fixes

  • Haunted houses’ lights no longer reset to auto mode.

Bust the Dust

  • Inspired moodlets from Cleaning House now have a proper timer to prevent interference with other interactions.

Previously, a major SIMS 4 update 1.95 added new Neighborhood Stories for managing friendships and romances, adds curved pools and fountains, new game options for invites and breakups, and a Safe for Streaming music option. Today’s Sims 4 version 2.01 will address a few of these issues.
