The Outer Worlds update 2.009 is now available to download on PS5, PC and Xbox. According to the official Outer Worlds patch notes, the latest update 2.5.9 improves visibility across Monarch, adds a two-swing combo to Maxwell, fixes stealth detection and projectile behavior. Apart from this, the Outer Worlds 2 patch 2.009 also resolves SAM and companion-related issues, and addresses several quest blockers involving Junlei, Dash Whitlock, C3, and Sublight Freight Storage access.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition Patch 2.5.9 Summary
- Improved visibility by reducing yellow fog across several Monarch locations.
- Fixed multiple combat issues, including projectile behavior, stealth detection, and companion pathing.

Environment and Level Fixes

- Enemy detection meters no longer refill after stealth kills followed by saving and loading.
- Updated Maxwell Unique Impact Hammer with a two-hit attack combo.

- Corrected debuff duration and personality change issues for Clive’s Boarst.
- Fixed an issue where SAM continued moving until repaired.
Menus and UI
- Companions no longer gain the Self Governed perk after leaving the party.
- SAM’s tab now appears correctly after joining the party.
- Engineering skill levels above 150 continue reducing repair part requirements.
- Resolve buff no longer stacks with itself.
- Companion tutorial now appears correctly when SAM is first recruited.
- Fixed a Terra 1 terminal to properly display the “[Continue]” option.
- Added an Inspect button prompt to General and Junk inventory tabs.
- Restoring default settings no longer changes the game’s language.
- Fixed an issue where flaws could be granted before acceptance.
- Controllers can now inspect ammunition in the inventory.
- Inventory sorting preferences now persist after loading saves or changing locations.
Quest Fixes
- Doors now open correctly when entering Sublight Freight Storage while moving.
- Players can now return to Dash Whitlock and request the passphrase.
- Fixed an issue causing Junlei to reappear alive on the Unreliable.
- Maverick Johnston now opens the door when the player speaks to a companion.

Previously, The Outer Worlds patch 1.004 added fixes and tweaks. Unfortunately, since the last patch, many players are still experiencing a number of issues when trying to play the game. The Outer Worlds 2 update 2.009 will fix a few of these issues.
