Terraria Patch 1.40 Patch Notes (Console Update 1.4.5.5)

Terraria patch 1.40 (Console Update v1.4.5.5) introduces seed descriptions, new toggles, expanded keybindings, improved invisibility behavior, and balance tuning. According to the official Terraria update 1.40 patch notes, the latest update also fixes crashes, exploits, visuals, audio, and world-generation issues.

Content and Additions

Gameplay & Interface

• Secret seed menu entries now include descriptions.

• Classic Crafting Window restored via toggle; selection is saved.

• Added Pause When Unfocused setting allowing single-player to run in background.

• Added Bluesky link to the main menu.

Controls & Keybindings

• Added Dash keybinding and Double Tap Dashing toggle.

• Added Armor Set Ability keybinding.

• Added Next/Previous Loadout keybindings for cycling loadouts, useful on gamepad.

World & Items

• Invisibility Potion once again fully hides the player.

• Gem Critters now spawn underground at all times.

• Dedicated Server world creation no longer requests special seeds after pasting a seed.

• Mannequins can now display Minecarts.

Item & World Adjustments

• Gravedigger Shovel now works on all cloud types.

• Remix Underground Hallow now spawns all intended Hallowed enemies.

• Party Bunnies shimmer into Faelings.

Crashes & Major Issues

• Resolved crash involving Shadow Beam, Heat Ray, and Magnet Sphere on certain slopes.

Gameplay Fixes

• Fixed excessive rain on certain worlds.

• Fixed Chippy’s Wings missing its Hallowed Bar requirement.

• Fixed Journey trash slot failing to research items automatically.

• Fixed players not rising past Biome Planter Boxes.

• Corrected low Ghost spawn rates from tombstones.

• Fixed multiple mining-speed exploits and an item duplication exploit.

Visual & World Fixes

• Fixed meteors landing on sky islands.

• Fixed certain lights disappearing when paused.

• Fixed several incorrect transformation or equipment positions.

• Fixed Fallen Star Block visual frames.

• Fixed Phasesabers getting stuck outside the world.

Previously, a big Terraria update 1.30 added Terraria 1.4.5 “Bigger and Boulder” delivers major crossover content, new gear, pets, mounts, and world options alongside large-scale quality-of-life improvements..
