Star Trek Online update 17.40 is now available to download for PC players. According to the official STO patch notes, the latest update added a new event and general fixes.
Previously, a big update added quality of life improvements. Unfortunately, many players are still experiencing several issues while playing the game.
Today’s Star Trek Online patch 17.40 will fix a few of these issues. Check out more details below.

STO Update 17.40 Changelog (Oct 13, 2021)
Event – Fall of the Old Ones:
- Join us for the first event Halloween Event starting on October 13th, 2021 and continuing until November 3rd, 2021.
- The Fall of the Old Ones Event can be accessed via the Event UI, accessible within your Mission Journal by pressing on the “Events” Tab.
- This Featured Event will be a standalone event, separate from the Event Campaign. This new event will provide participating Captains with The Transmuter Wand Universal Kit Module, and the Old One Vanity Pet.
- Rewards:
- Accruing a total of 14 points of Daily Progress will allow you to claim the Grand Prize.
- Bonus Rewards:
- After claiming the Grand Prize, you will unlock the option of earning additional Dilithium Ore each day, beginning at 8,000 Dilithium Ore for the first day’s completion.
- Zen Buyout Option:
- For players interested in instantly completing the Only Equal and Opposite event, we will be offering an updated method for buying out.
- Within the new Event UI, an option will be presented that allows you to purchase the remaining progress that you need, for a scaling amount of Zen.

General:
- Resolved an issue with Event Campaign III progression that could sometimes cause Daily Progress to not be granted to certain players.
- Resolved an issue that could prevent Klingon Captains from completing the tutorial.
- Addressed an issue that could cause the tutorial to become stuck for Jem’hadar who already have an allied faction, but are at the mission step that asks them to choose a faction.
- Implemented optimizations to various UI elements to improve performance.
- The Nova Science Vessel and Rhode Island Science Vessel (Refit) have been remastered!
- The models have been totally rebuilt to our current standard of fidelity and detail.
- This includes a new ship material and new windows if you own the Rhode Island Science Vessel (Refit).
- To see the updates properly, ready your Nova or Rhode Island, visit the ship customization interface and apply the desired template.
