Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 Update 1.0.1 Patch Notes – Feb. 11, 2025

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 update is now rolling out on PC (Steam). According to the official Civilization 7 patch notes, the latest update fixes key gameplay issues, including Ages length, City-State transitions, and Naval combat mechanics. AI now considers Ideologies more in diplomacy, and several UI and camera issues are resolved. Additionally, the Civilization 7 game patch also includes performance improvements.

Gameplay

General Fixes & Improvements

  • Ages Fix: Fixed an issue where Epic and Marathon speed games had shorter-than-intended Ages.
  • City-State Transitions: Now turn into Friendly Independent Powers during Age Transitions instead of vanishing. They also start with more units in Exploration and Modern Ages.
  • Naval Combat Fixes:
    • Naval Units now use the correct Combat Strength when attacking other Naval Units.
    • Reciprocal damage is now properly applied after attacking.
    • Units will more consistently move into attacked tiles after defeating an enemy.
  • Legacy Path Fix: Completing the final milestone in the Modern Age no longer grants Age Progress, allowing more time for Victory conditions.
  • Towns Auto-Focus: If a town loses eligibility for its chosen Focus, it will automatically switch back to Growing Town until eligible again.
  • Future Civic Repeatability: Now repeatable in all Ages. Future Tech & Civic costs increase more when repeated.
  • Food Growth Fix: Resolved an issue where too many growth bonuses caused negative food requirements.
  • Rail Network Improvements: Settlements should connect more reliably over water when the Capital has a Port or connects by rail to a settlement with a Port.
  • Antiquity Age Loyalty Crisis:
    • Players can now purchase Villas in towns during a crisis.
    • Offers more ways to manage settlement happiness.

Multiplayer Cross-Play Update

  • To speed up PC updates, patches may release on PC before consoles.
  • Cross-play between PC and consoles is temporarily disabled but does not affect console-to-console or PC-to-PC multiplayer.

AI Improvements

  • AI now offers high-value Cities less often in Peace Deals.
  • AI is less likely to declare war at the start of the Modern Age.
  • AI now considers Ideology more before declaring war or making peace offers.
  • Leaders are less likely to go to war if neither side has an Ideology.
  • Leaders are more likely to declare war on players with opposing Ideologies.
  • Leaders are less likely to accept peace with players of opposing Ideologies.

Camera Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where, on native resolutions, clicking the minimap incorrectly focused the camera on the lower part of the map.

UI Improvements

  • Font Update: Simplified Chinese font replaced with Civilization VI’s font for now.
  • Settlement Menu Fix: Now opens correctly when clicking a non-player’s Settlement Banner.
  • Yield Icons Fix: Icons now properly appear when converting a town to a city.
  • Global Yields UI Fix: Fixed text cut-off issues.
  • Espionage Notification: Added alerts for completed Espionage actions.
  • City Projects Fix: No longer incorrectly appear as purchasable.
  • Religion Display: Your current religion now appears first in the belief picker.
  • District UI Fix: Health bars now properly disappear when a District is fully healed.
  • Leader Portrait Fix: Now correctly updates when relationships change.
  • Age Summary UI Fix: Improved alignment of leader names and portraits.
  • Customization Fix: Fixed background color not updating in the Player Customize tab.
  • Loading Screen UI Fix: Improved spacing between Civ descriptions, unique units, and building icons.
