A new Sea of Thieves update 1.298.855 (Season 12) is available to download on PS5, Xbox and PC(3.0.0). According to the official Sea Of Thieves version 1.298.855 patch notes, the latest SOT update 1.298.855 update introduces Microsoft Account Linking, cross-platform play, and new weapons in its latest update. PlayStation 5 players enjoy optimized performance and DualSense controller support. Apart from this Seas of Thieves patch 1.298.855 also includes quality-of-life improvements and new Season 12 rewards.
Previously, a big SOT update 2.8 added Season 9 update added Bury Treasure, Share Map, Cannon Rowboats, Fireworks, and Flares. Unfortunately, players are still experiencing a number of issues with the game. Today’s SOT update 1.298.855 will address a few of these issues.

Microsoft Account Linking:
- Players need to link a Microsoft account to play Sea of Thieves.
- This is a permanent decision, and each player can link only one Microsoft account to their PlayStationâ„¢Network account.
- Experienced players from other platforms who joined during the PlayStation®5 Closed Beta will have their progress transferred seamlessly.
Player Names and Online IDs:
- After linking a Microsoft account, players will be displayed using their Microsoft gamertag.
- PlayStation®5 players can see the Microsoft account and linked online IDs of players they encounter.
Inviting Friends into a Crew:
- Players can invite PlayStation friends using the PlayStation®5 Game Base.
- A new in-game friends list combines friends from both Microsoft and PlayStation accounts.
Cross-Platform Play:
- Cross-platform play is enabled by default, allowing players from different platforms to play together.
- PlayStation®5 players can choose to disable crossplay if they prefer.
Performance on PlayStation®5:
- Sea of Thieves on PlayStation®5 runs at 60 FPS in 4K resolution.
- Players can access a Performance Mode for supported TVs, offering 120Hz refresh rates at 1080p.
HDR Setup on PlayStation®5:
- New players using HDR-supported screens should perform HDR calibration for the best experience.
DualSenseâ„¢ Wireless Controller Support:
- The DualSenseâ„¢ controller enhances movement and interactions.
- Adaptive triggers provide immersive gunplay experiences.
- The controller’s built-in microphone facilitates in-game voice chat.
Voice Chat Notifications:
- Players can see broadcasting players’ names in the HUD during in-game voice chat.
Player Moderation:
- Players can block others from communicating via in-game voice chat.
New Weapons and Tools:
- Throwing Knives: Quick melee or ranged attacks.
- Double Barrel Pistol: Fast-firing weapon with reduced range but faster firing speed.
- Scattershot: Short-range cannonball option for devastating enemy ships.
- Bone Caller: Summons a skeleton crew to attack enemies.
- Horn of Fair Winds: Harnesses wind power for speed boosts.
- Harpoon Tightropes: Allows players to climb or slide using harpoon lines.
- Island Ziplines: Speed up traversal on various islands.
Season 12:
- 100 new Renown levels with rewards.
- Plunder Pass offers additional cosmetics.
- Emissary Ledger rewards for Guilds.
Pirate Emporium:
- Purchase exclusive cosmetics using Ancient Coins.
Events:
- All players who log in during Season 12 receive New Dawn Sails as a gift.
Fixed Issues:
- Open Crew matchmaking is re-enabled.
- Players can no longer use a Quest Map while in the air.
