Rust Update 2.17 Patch Notes for PS4 & Xbox One – May 29, 2025

Rust update 2.17 is available to download on PS4 and Xbox One. According to the official Rust Console 2.17 patch notes, the latest Rust console update improves server command reliability, fixes gameplay terrain and item issues, corrects visual bugs, and updates translations for better accessibility. In addition, Rust patch 2.17 also includes stability fixes.

Patch Summary

• Fixed major bugs with community server commands and whitelist functionality.

• Addressed multiple issues with terrain and item collision during gameplay.

Community Server Fixes

Command Bugs Fixed

• Fixed: banitem "item" all no longer allows crafting of banned items.

• Fixed: clearwhitelist now properly kicks players from whitelist-enabled CMS servers.

Spectator Mode

• Fixed: “Delete Item” prompt now functions correctly when spectating.

Custom PVP Zone Behavior

• Fixed: Players at the edge of custom PVP zones on non-PVP servers can now deal damage correctly.

Gameplay Fixes

Terrain and Item Collision

• Fixed: Dropped items no longer fall through the world or foundations under elevators.

• Fixed: Players no longer fall through terrain near the Military Tunnel monument.

Player Collider Update

• Fixed: Sleeping players’ collider height now matches the player model.

Visual Fixes

Model and Skin Rendering

• Fixed: Player models no longer disappear at certain distances.

• Fixed: Tribal Assault Rifle and Tribal MP5A4 skins now match their locker previews.

Other Changes

Translation Updates

• Fixed: Translations for Industrial items are now accurate.

Previously, a major Rust update 2.01 added Industrial components for automation, new backpacks, and a Nightlight feature for nighttime exploration. Enhancements to the Oil Rigs include Moonpools, and the Seismic Sensor detects nearby explosions. Unfortunately, since the last patch, players are experiencing several issues while playing the game. Today’s Rust version 2.17 will fix a few of these issues.
