Risk of Rain 2 update 1.16 (1.003.700) is now rolling out on PS4, PS5 and Xbox One players. According to the official Risk of Rain 2 update 1.16 patch notes, the latest update enhances the False Son Boss Fight, reworks Void Fields mechanics, and adjusts several items and enemies for better balance. Apart from this, ROR2 patch 1.16 also fixes multiplayer issues, animation glitches, and environment bugs.
Previously, a big update added a new Survivor, a new boss, and more. Unfortunately, since this update, many players were experiencing a number of issues when trying to play the game. Today’s Risk of Rain 2 version 1.003.700 will fix all these issues.

False Son Boss Fight, Void Fields, Item & Enemy Balancing, and More
- False Son Boss Fight: Improved animations, pathfinding, and attack telegraphing; adjusted health, damage scaling, and arena elements.
- Void Fields Rework: Increased challenge; time now resumes when players leave the safe zone, and Void Fog damage gradually ramps up.
- Item Balancing: Adjustments to several DLC items, including Unstable Transmitter, Growth Nectar, and Breaching Fin.
- Enemy Adjustments: Halcyonite and Scorch Worm improvements, including tracking fixes and HP reductions.
- Bug Fixes & Misc: Fixed multiplayer issues, adjusted stage progression, and resolved various gameplay bugs.
False Son Boss Fight
- Improved attack, movement, and transition animations.
- Adjusted health, scaling, and damage for a more balanced challenge, including Adaptive Armor.
- Enhanced telegraphing of all attacks to reduce unexpected deaths.
- Improved visual cues for abilities and effects.
- Better pathfinding in the arena.
- Reduced Stone Golem spawns.
- Adjusted Lunar Pillar cover.
Void Fields Overhaul
- Time stops inside the safe zone but resumes if any player is outside taking Void Fog damage.
- Time remains paused while moving between Void Cells.
- Void Fog damage now gradually increases over time to prevent excessive stalling.
- Items are added to the monster item pool sooner if players take too long to complete a Void Cell.
Item Adjustments
General Changes
- Unstable Transmitter: Now activates only once per stage, barrier gain reduced to 35% max health (was 75%), and One Shot Protection removed.
- Longstanding Solitude: Adjusted Gold-to-XP ratio.
- Elusive Antlers: Base speed benefit removed, now only gains speed from orb drops.
- Growth Nectar: Stat boost reduced to 4% per buff (was 7%), max stacks adjusted, and no longer scales base stat increase.
- Warped Echo: First-hit damage reduction lowered to 20% (was 30%), delayed damage ticks now benefit from healing items.
- Warbonds: Proc chance removed, base cost of additional missiles increased from 25 to 50 gold.
- Breaching Fin: Base damage reduced to 10% (was 20%), but each juggle now increases damage by 10%.
- Bolstering Lantern: Attack speed bonus reduced to 7.5% per nearby enemy (was 10%).
- Sonorous Whispers: Loot chance adjusted to favor white items.
- Chronic Expansion: Lowered volume of beeps when the effect is about to expire.
Enemy Changes
- Halcyonite: Improved hitbox accuracy, adjusted Whirlwind attack behavior, and all three blasts of the tri-laser now track players.
- Scorch Worm: Reduced HP and improved mechanics for forcing it above ground when buried.
Other Changes
- Added an alternate entrance to Path of the Colossus.
- Continuing a run after Prime Meridian no longer increments the stage count.
Known Issues
- Void Fields completion incorrectly increments the stage counter—this will be fixed in a future update.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Sawmarang applying bleed when using Electric Boomerang.
- Removed instances of debug text appearing instead of intended text.
- Burn debuff no longer removes other DoT effects when it expires.
- Death Mark now correctly triggers when transferring debuffs between enemies.
- Bazaar shopkeeper voice restored.
- Eccentric Vase’s Tunnel no longer collides with Bolstering Lantern’s visual indicator.
- Warbonds is now blacklisted from the Scavenger item pool.
- SotS enemies now appear in stages when using Artifact of Dissonance.
- Verdant Falls is now accessible when looping with SotS disabled.
- Fixed multiplayer bug where chests would become non-functional if a client left and rejoined after charging TP with Artifact of Delusion.
- Environment Logs now count as collectibles in Profile Stats.
- Fixed split-screen permission issues on next-gen consoles.
- Fixed terrain clipping on Commencement and Siren’s Call.
- Engineer now correctly displays a walking animation when using a controller.
