Phasmophobia Update 1.000.040 Patch Notes for PS5 and PC

Kinetic Games has released a new Phasmophobia update 1.000.040 on PS5, Xbox, and PC. According to the official Phasmophobia version 0.17.1.4 patch notes, the latest update adds VR improvements, restores the previous ghost speed behavior, fixes Kormos kill exploits through floors and outside areas, and resolves issues affecting multiplayer lobbies, equipment functionality, and VR text input interactions. Apart from this, Phasmophobia update 1.000.040 also includes stability and performance fixes.

Phasmophobia Update Summary

  • VR belt system reworked based on player feedback.
  • Option added to place the Journal and Walkie Talkie on the belt or shoulder.

New

  • Reworked the VR belt system following community feedback.
  • Added an option for VR players to place the Journal and Walkie Talkie on either the belt or shoulder.
  • The VR belt is now only visible to the local player. Other players will see equipment attached to the VR player’s body.

Changes

  • Reverted the line-of-sight ghost speed acceleration adjustments introduced in the Player Character Update.

Fixes

  • Fixed a softlock that could occur when using the Spirit Box before interacting with the Truck CCTV.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the Kormos to kill players through floors.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the Kormos to kill players while they were outside.
  • Fixed an issue where the Tier 3 Firelight did not function correctly when placed while lit.
  • Fixed incorrect player jacket visuals when loading into multiplayer lobbies.
  • Fixed a multiplayer issue where selecting Join without entering a code could break lobby creation and remove game audio.
  • Fixed an issue preventing VR players from using text input with the Spirit Box, Monkey Paw, and Ouija Board.

Previously, a major update 1.000.021 added Voice Recognition on consoles, allowing players to interact with ghosts using their voice. Unfortunately, players still facing a number of problems with the game. Today’s Phasmophobia version 1.000.040 will fix a few of these issues.
