OW2 Update 3.95 patch notes (Season 15) – February 18, 2025
Season 15 of Overwatch 2, titled Honor and Glory, introduces a groundbreaking new feature called Perks, which revolutionizes gameplay by allowing players to unlock mid-match hero upgrades. This season also marks the return of Loot Boxes, adds a stunning new Mythic Skin for Zenyatta, and brings significant updates to Competitive Play, including rank resets, new rewards, and map pool adjustments. Additionally, the Perked Up Event offers players the chance to earn exclusive rewards like the Rainy Day Mercy skin and Legendary Loot Boxes. With Hero Perks added to all 41 heroes, Season 15 is set to be the most dynamic and strategic season yet.
New Features
1. Perks System
The Perks System is the centerpiece of Season 15, introducing a new layer of strategy and customization to Overwatch 2. Perks are mid-match upgrades that allow players to enhance their hero’s abilities and adapt to the flow of battle. Here’s how it works:
- Earning Perks:
Players gain Perk progress by dealing damage, securing eliminations, and healing allies. The rate at which Perks are earned increases as the match progresses. Eliminating an enemy with a higher Perk level grants additional progress. - Selecting Perks:
Players can choose from multiple Perk options to suit their playstyle.- Standard Selection: Hold Left Alt (keyboard) or Up on the D-pad (controller) to bring up the Perk selection menu.
- Quick Selection: Bind Perk selection to a specific key or button for faster access.
- Toggle Option: Perk selection can be set to toggle instead of hold.
- Hero Swapping:
When switching heroes, Perk progress is reset to Level 1 for the new hero. However, progress is saved for any hero you’ve already played in the round. For example, if you played Tracer to Level 3 and then switched to another hero, you’ll return to Level 3 with your Perks intact if you switch back to Tracer. - Perks in Modes:
Perks are enabled in both Quick Play and Competitive modes, adding a fresh layer of strategy to all game types.
2. Loot Boxes Return
Loot Boxes make a triumphant return in Season 15, offering players a chance to unlock a variety of cosmetic items. There are two types of Loot Boxes:
- Standard Loot Boxes:
- Contain four items drawn from a curated collection of Overwatch and Overwatch 2 cosmetics.
- Prioritize giving players items they don’t already own.
- If a duplicate item is unavoidable, the Loot Box grants progress toward a bonus Loot Box.
- Drop rates:
- Legendary: 5.1%
- Epic: 21.93%
- Rare: 96.26%
- Common: 97.97%
- Guaranteed drops:
- A Legendary item within 20 consecutive box openings.
- An Epic item within five consecutive box openings.
- At least one Rare or better item in every box.
- Legendary Loot Boxes:
- Guaranteed to contain at least one Legendary item.
- Drop rates for other rarities remain the same as Standard Loot Boxes.
- Earning Loot Boxes:
- Players can earn up to 3 Loot Boxes per week by completing up to 27 games (wins count as double).
- The Battle Pass offers additional rewards:
- Free Track: 1 Legendary Loot Box.
- Premium Track: 2 Legendary Loot Boxes.
- Automatic Opening:
- At the start of each season, any unopened Loot Boxes from previous seasons are automatically opened, and the items are added to the player’s collection.
3. New Mythic Skin: Pixiu Zenyatta
The Mythic Pixiu Zenyatta skin is inspired by the golden dragon Pixiu, a symbol of wealth and protection in Chinese mythology. This skin features:
- Four Progression Levels: Unlock new visual effects and customizations as you progress.
- Thematic Sound Effects: Unique audio cues that match the skin’s divine theme.
- Gilded Aspect: An optional gold variant for a truly majestic appearance.
4. Competitive Play Updates
Season 15 brings significant changes to Competitive Play, including rank resets, new rewards, and adjustments to the map pool.
- Skill Rank Reset:
- All ranks in Role Queue and Open Queue have been reset to Unranked.
- Players must complete 10 placement matches for each role.
- Higher ranks (Master, Grandmaster, and Champion) have been adjusted to include a larger percentage of the player population.
- New Rewards:
- Galactic Weapon Skins: Unlockable with Competitive Points.
- Jade Weapon Variants: Added as Legacy Rewards, purchasable with Legacy Competitive Points.
- Competitive Weapon Charms: Awarded to players in Platinum and above in Season 16 based on Season 15 performance.
- End-of-Season Titles: Now include the role achieved (e.g., Champion Tank, Champion Support).
- Competitive Point Conversion:
- All Competitive Points earned in the 2024 Competitive Year have been converted into Legacy Competitive Points.
- Players can manually convert Competitive Points into Legacy Points when purchasing Weapon Variants.
- Map Pool:
- Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis have been removed from the Competitive Play pool.
- All other maps (Escort, Hybrid, Control, Push, and Flashpoint) remain available.
Events
Perked Up Event
The Perked Up Event celebrates the debut of the Perks system and runs from February 18 to April 22. During this event, players can:
- Complete weekly challenges to earn rewards, including Rainy Day Mercy, Legendary Loot Boxes, and more.
- Earn up to 10 Loot Boxes per week by completing 15 games (wins count as double).
- Participate in Twitch Drops and Support a Streamer campaigns to unlock additional rewards like Rainy Day Mei and Tracer.
Hero Perks
Season 15 introduces Hero Perks for all 41 heroes, adding new abilities and upgrades to enhance gameplay. Below are some highlights:
Tanks
- D.Va:
- Bunny Stomp: Increases Call Mech’s damage radius by 50%.
- Ejection Suit: Grants 75 temporary overhealth when ejecting.
- Shield System: Converts 150 health to shields; Defense Matrix restores shields based on damage absorbed.
- Doomfist:
- One-Two: Rocket Punch reloads all Hand Cannon ammo.
- Survival of the Fittest: Grants 25 overhealth from eliminations.
- Reinhardt:
- Shield Slam: Damages and knocks back enemies while Barrier Field is active.
- Crushing Victory: Charge damage grants temporary overhealth.
Damage
- Ashe:
- Rapid Fire: Increases unscoped attack speed by 30%.
- Viper’s Sting: Deals bonus damage for consecutive shots.
- Genji:
- Dragon’s Thirst: Dragonblade swings grant lifesteal.

- Widowmaker:

- Zenyatta:
- Focused Destruction: Charges Secondary Fire 20% faster.
- Duality: Heals allies based on damage dealt to Discorded targets.
General Updates
Voice Lines
- Custom ultimate voice lines are now player-specific and won’t be heard by enemies.
- Mode-specific ultimate lines are enabled for certain skins (e.g., Warlock Ashe, Greek Gods).
Emotes
- Emotes can now be canceled shortly after activation.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed issues with highlights, voice line icons, and ranked game scores.
- Hero-specific fixes for Ana, Bastion, D.Va, Lúcio, Mercy, Orisa, and Torbjörn.
Previously, a major Overwatch 2 update 3.60 added a new game mode – Hero Mastery as well as various changes to heroes, including damage adjustments, cooldown tweaks, and improvements to abilities. Today’s Overwatch 2 patch 3.94 will fix a few of these issues.
