Pro Shooting tips for NBA 2K21

Tap the left trigger at the ideal release time for a boost

If you’re using the Shot Button, turn off Shot Meter for a boost

The green release is more challenging this year, be patient or turn off Shot Aiming if you want Shot Timing on Pro Stick like last year.

Dribble tiers (speed-boosting thresholds) and dunk rating requirements for dunk packages and contact dunks are basically the same in NBA 2K21 as they were in NBA 2K20.

You can still shoot bank shots by swinging RS up after starting a shot. It’s kinda tuff, but you can aim “north” on the stick instead of “south” if you want.

Pressing LT locks the aim in place but it’s also how you time the shot. You can also press RT or release RS to time the shot, but LT is the easiest way.

Shot stick aim + LT, then Shot stick aim no LT, then Shot meter off.

The most important factor is getting your aim centered. Don’t rush locking it in to get the timing boost if it makes you shoot off-centered. But center aim + locking in excellent timing gives you the highest success chance.

For jumpers, hold RS down to start a shot. While still holding, adjust the aim by moving RS slightly left or right till the tick is centered in the meter. You can also tap LT/L2 or RT/R2 to lock the aim and time the shot for an additional boost.

let’s say you’re shooting a post-fade by holding at 8 o’clock, you then rotate quickly to 6 o’clock or wherever the ideal aim point is – it moves based on coverage. Then you can either keep holding there once you find it or you can release RS or tap a trigger to time it.

You won’t see green lights when playing against the CPU. But you can set the Shot Feedback setting to All Shots if you want to see them like in 2K20.

When you shoot with the pro stick, the meter only shows the ideal aiming point in which you use the stick to the target. You don’t see timing, so you have to know your release as if the shot meter was off.
