Minecraft Update 1.012 Patch Notes for PS5 (Version 1.012.000)
Minecraft update 1.012 (Bedrock 1.21.60) is available to download on PS5. According to the official Minecraft 1.012 patch notes, the latest update brings Warm and Cold Pig variants, falling leaf particles, and a simplified Lodestone recipe. Pale Gardens expand, Ravines improve, and Woodland Mansions generate in new biomes. In addition, today’s Minecraft patch 1.012 (version 1.012.000) also improves collisions, crafting, and mob behaviors, while vanilla parity changes align Bedrock and Java Edition more closely.

Minecraft Version 1.012
New Features
New Pig Variants: Added Warm Pig and Cold Pig, each spawning in specific biomes.
Cold Biomes: Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Windswept Hills, Windswept Gravelly Hills, Windswept Forest.
Unaffected Blocks: Cherry Leaves and Pale Oak Leaves (already had this feature).
Simplified Lodestone Recipe: Now crafted with 1 Iron Ingot surrounded by 8 Chiseled Stone Blocks. Recipe unlocks upon obtaining an Iron Ingot or Lodestone. Lodestones can also be found as loot in Ruined Portals.
Experimental Features (Enable via Experimental Toggle)
Pig Variants: Warm and Cold Pigs with unique textures and biome-specific spawning.
Falling Leaf Particles: All leaf blocks emit particles.
Simplified Lodestone Recipe: Easier crafting and loot availability.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Accessibility: Added narration in Realms plan picker screen.
Achievements: Monster Hunter achievement now unlocks correctly.
Audio: Music volume fixes in Pale Garden biome.
Biomes: Pale Gardens generate more frequently and are larger. Woodland Mansions can now generate in Pale Gardens.
Gameplay: Fixed mob teleportation, suffocation damage, and bed floating issues.
Graphical: Improved foliage and grass rendering, fixed texture issues.
Items: Updated textures, fixed loot table issues, and adjusted XP rewards.
Mobs: Fixed Creaking behaviors, Squid rotation, and Enderman teleportation.
Realms: Improved player profile pics, fixed permission and game mode display issues.
Recipes: Fixed crashes related to malformed recipes.
User Interface: Improved touch controls, fixed bugs, and updated achievement displays.
Vanilla Parity: Aligned features with Java Edition, such as Wheat color on maps and Shears usage on vines.
World Generation: Improved biome vegetation, fixed terrain generation mismatches, and adjusted structure placements.
Gameplay
The second passenger in a boat will no longer experience large camera twitches when rotating toward the west.
Fixed a bug where mobs would teleport to a height of 32767 when traveling from The End to the Overworld.
Fixed an issue where players who entered a world while crawling would sometimes take suffocation damage.
Players no longer float above the bed while sleeping.
Pause Feature
The pause functionality is now available in Beta and Preview versions. This feature is still being refined and will be released to all players in the future.
General
Improved the world spawn point algorithm to prefer locations with good biomes over those closer to the origin.
Introduced a Filter Profanity toggle on Windows. When enabled, profanities in chat and text content will be filtered. This setting is default on for all players and cannot be changed for child accounts.
Pistons, Sticky Pistons, Droppers, and Dispensers now show up in the recipe book again.
Graphical
The dark edges around the screen at low Y coordinates now fade in gradually instead of appearing suddenly.
Added support for ‘minecraft:foliage_appearance ‘ and ‘minecraft:grass_appearance ‘ components in client_biome JSON files to control foliage and grass rendering.
Items
Updated the texture of Open Bundles to fix a missing string pixel.
Resin Bricks are no longer found in Woodland Mansion chests.
Reduced the XP rewarded for smelting Resin Clumps into Resin Bricks from 0.3 to 0.1.
Loot Tables
Entity loot tables with spawn eggs that omit the actor ID will no longer drop invalid spawn eggs when destroyed.
Mobs
Creakings now crumble if their Creaking Heart is deactivated through commands.
Creakings are now persistent and won’t disappear on save/load.
Creakings no longer play ambient sounds when aggravated, only when idle.
Creakings’ eyes now render even when invisible, provided they have a target.
Creakings spawned from Creaking Hearts now always persist upon reloading the world.
Creakings’ eyes now properly flicker when their Creaking Heart is destroyed.
Creakings now emit vibrations when swaying after being hit.
Creakings can now spawn on Snow Layers.
Creakings spawned by a Creaking Heart can now be nametagged, preventing them from despawning during the day.
Fixed an issue preventing Squid from rotating to match their movement.
Fixed an issue where Endermen would teleport when riding Boats or Minecarts.
Magma Cubes now use their new model and texture only when explicitly overridden by Resource Packs.
Breeding
Breeding Sheep with compatible wool colors now gives the baby Sheep a mixture of the parents’ colors.
Breeding Wolves now produces offspring with one of the parents’ collar colors or a mixture if the colors are compatible.
Breeding Cats with compatible collar colors now gives the baby Cat a collar with a mixture of the colors.
Realms
Player profile pics in Realms Stories now load more reliably.
Fixed an issue where users could not rejoin a Realm after using an invite code.
Improved the display of joinable Friends worlds on the Play Screen.
Fixed an issue where player permissions reverted to the previous state after leaving the Manage Realm tab.
Fixed an issue where the game mode appeared as “Unknown” on the Realms Tab.
Players can now access Realms Stories even when multiplayer access is disabled in their privacy settings.
Recipes
Added a content error when parsing malformed shaped recipes to prevent crashes when opening the crafting screen.
User Interface
Disabling Realms Stories badge notifications now hides badges in the Story Feed and Play Screen.
Fixed touch control issues, such as the empty space in the center of the D-pad acting as the forward button.
Updated the wording for enabling/disabling sleep skipping the night.
Consolidated the Fancy Graphics and Ray Tracing toggles into a single Graphics Mode dropdown.
Fixed a bug where the game could soft-lock when suspended right before the player’s death.
Added support for input glyph replacement for signs, signed books, and NPC dialogs.
Vanilla Parity
Wheat color is now yellow on maps instead of green.
Shears can now be used on Cave Vines, Kelp, Twisting Vines, and Weeping Vines to prevent further growth.
Biomes
Zombie Villagers in the Mangrove Swamp biome now have the correct skin.
Monsters that spawn in the Overworld (e.g., Zombies, Endermen, Spiders, Creepers) can now spawn in the Mangrove Swamp biome.
Eyeblossoms and Pale Moss Carpets no longer generate inside Pale Oak Tree trunks.
Updated vegetation in many Overworld biomes to match Java Edition.
Blocks
Updated the hitbox of Lily Pads and Sugar Cane to match Java Edition.
TNT blocks no longer flash with a solid white color when exploding.
Candles and Candle Cakes now play ambient sounds properly.
Pale Oak Leaves no longer appear lighter than in Java Edition.
Renamed Banners no longer lose their custom names when broken or washed in cauldrons.
Twisting Vines and Weeping Vines now have an increased chance of dropping with Fortune-enchanted tools.
Dispensers can now place Shulker Boxes underwater.
Sniffer Egg blocks now only provide center support on top and bottom faces.
Items
Suspicious Stews crafted with Tulips now apply the Weakness Effect for 7 seconds, matching Java Edition.
Suspicious Stews with the Weakness Effect acquired from Shipwrecks and Villager trading now apply the effect for 7 seconds.
Mobs
Horses, Skeleton Horses, Zombie Horses, Donkeys, and Mules now play their ambient sounds correctly.
Foxes now periodically play their “mad” sound while defending a player.
Baby Drowneds now move at the same speed as Zombies and Zombie Villagers.
Gold Swords dropped by Piglins and Zombified Piglins now have randomized durability.
Axes dropped by Piglin Brutes now have randomized durability.
Creepers no longer flash with a solid white color when exploding.
Neutral mobs no longer become aggressive when hit by Lingering Potions with positive effects.
Endermen now have a delay before becoming hostile when looked at.
Sounds
Added unique sound effects for Vines, Glow Berry Vines, Weeping Vines, and Twisting Vines.
Wood stripping now plays a wood stripping sound instead of a wood step sound.
Creating a Grass Path now makes a shovel flattening sound instead of a grass step sound.
World Generation
Creaking Hearts now generate more often in naturally generated Pale Oaks.
Ravines now generate more frequently and can reach the surface and ocean floor.
Ravines now properly interact with aquifers, filling with water instead of generating as disconnected segments.
Fixed terrain generation mismatches in some biomes.
Structures
Fixed an issue where some Savanna Villages had holes where Dirt Path blocks should be.
Previously, a big Minecraft update 2.87 added quality-of-life improvements and fixes. Unfortunately, since the last MC patch 2.73, players are still facing issues with the game. Today’s Minecraft version 1.012.000 will fix a few of these issues.
