Guilty Gear Strive Update 1.29 Patch Notes

Guilty Gear Strive update 1.29 (1.029.000) is rolling out on PS4, PC, and PS5. According to the official Guilty Gear Strive 1.29 patch notes, the latest update adds Johnny becomes as a playable character with new avatar items and themed music. Apart from this, Guilty Gear Strive patch 1.29 (1.029) also includes a long list of changes and fixes.

Previously, a Guilty Gear Strive update 1.21 added a new character Bridget to the game. Unfortunately, players have been experiencing issues with the game since the last patch. Today’s Guilty Gear Strive version 1.29 will fix a few of these issues.

GGST Update 1.29 Patch Notes – August 23, 2023

General / Game Modes:

• Added Johnny as a playable character.
• Johnny will be available after purchasing the “GGST Season Pass 3” or the “Johnny” DLC item.
• Added the Johnny theme, “Just Lean.”
• Johnny must be selectable in order to use the BGM.
• Added avatar items for Johnny, obtainable via “fishing.”
• Added new BGM to the Gallery Mode: “Liquor Bar & Drunkard” and “Original Bet.”
• New BGM items can be obtained via “fishing.”

Main Menu:

• Significant visual changes to the main menu.
• Certain menu items and their names have been changed.
• Menu location of certain modes has been changed.
• System settings, battle settings, etc. can be accessed via Game Settings.
• Added Quick Access feature for easier menu navigation.

Online Matches:

• Changed visuals of the lobby selection screen.
• Added current online player count indicator for each floor in Ranked Tower.
• Added “Africa” as a selectable network region.
• Changed lobby screen structure.
• Items can now be selected from shortcut menu while button is held down.
• Added ability to Follow, Block, or Report players through Contact menu.

Online Lobbies:

• Avatars in online lobbies move to Bartender’s area when suspending matchmaking in Training Mode.
• Fixed issue where vacant Duel Stations couldn’t be accessed.

Character Select:

• Changed display format of character select.
• Revised selection criteria for better balance in Battle Type and Easy to Use classifications.
• Operation of changing settings for BGM, Stage, and Battle Settings has been revised.
• Selected BGM or Stage using AUTO function is displayed after character is determined.

Mission Mode:

• New missions added, some updated, and some deleted based on new character and battle changes.
• Cleared status of updated missions has been reset.

R-Code:

• OPTIONS/MENU button opens Edit Profile screen when checking R-Code.
• Editing profile from standard R-Code menu is no longer possible.

GG WORLD:

• Added new items to Glossary and Correlation.
• Updated text for Asuka R. Kreuz.
• Added images for some characters.

Other:

• If unauthorized special color is selected, default color will be used.
• Changed display format of Match Result screen.
• Fixed spelling and grammatical errors in Gallery Mode.

Battle Changes:

• Battle version updated from Ver. 2.06 to Ver. 3.00.
• Fixed minor issues and introduced new battle changes.
