Fortnite update 4.78 (v37.00) is available to download on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC. According to the official Fortnite 4.78 patch notes, the latest Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 “Shock ‘N Awesome” introduces a bug-fighting theme with new POIs, the O.X.R. rank system, Mythic bosses, Exotic loot, Power Rangers outfits, and Twitch drops. Today’s Fortnite patch 4.78 also includes new powerful weapons, boons, and exclusive cosmetics.

Enemy Bug Variants

• Swarmer: Small, numerous bugs that overwhelm.

• Bomber: Heavy bugs that burrow and hurl goop bombs.

• Queen: Massive, rare bosses that appear after nest clears; drop Mythics and Medallions.

O.X.R. Rank System

• Players start at Rank C and can progress to B, A, S, and S+.

• Each rank increase grants a Drop Pod with loot and Super Soldier Boon.

• Rank A unlocks Exotic Bunkers, Rank S+ guarantees Mythic Weapons.

• Bug Blaster: Fires explosive plasma or charged blasts.

• O.X.R. Arsenal: Includes Leadspitter 3000, Sweeper Shotgun, Swarmstrike launcher, and more.

• Blade Blaster (Later): Power Rangers sidearm with rapid or charged fire.

Exotics (Rank A+)

• Eradicator O.X.R. Rifle: Boosts damage on consecutive hits.

• Double Trouble: Dual shotguns with instant swap.

• Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher: Adds slow effect mid-air.

• Marksman Wrecker Revolver: Faster hip fire and better headshots.

• Slap Berry Fizz: Grants Slap and Flowberry effect.

• Hammerhead Choppa (Coming Later): Aerial vehicle with hover & dual-seat fire features.

• The Hive Queen: Mythic Enhanced Revolver + Surge Medallion (Speed boost).

• Demon’s Domain Queen: Mythic O.X.R. Rifle + Springleg Medallion (Double jump).

• Ranger’s Ruin Queen: Mythic Sweeper Shotgun + Carapace Medallion (Health & shield).

Note: Carrying Medallions makes you visible on the mini-map.

Competitive Notes

• Champions Road tournament series returns leading up to FNCS Global Championship (Sept 6–7).

• Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher and Swarmstrike are disabled in tournaments.

Miscellaneous

• New DirectX 12 Performance Mode (PC): Replaces old DX11 mode (now Legacy).

• Legacy DX11 mode still available but deprecated.
