eFootball 2023 Update 1.22 Patch Notes (v3.0)

A new eFootball 2023 update 1.22 (3.0.0) is available on PS4, PS5, PC and Xbox One. According to the official eFootball 1.22 patch notes, the latest update brings eFootball 2024 with new features, changes and improvements. Apart from this, eFootball update 1.22 also addressed issues in Co-op matches, cursor switching, goal celebrations, and commentary.

Previously, a major eFootball 2023 update 1.20 added quality-of-life changes and fixes. Unfortunately, players are still experiencing several issues when trying to play the game. Today’s eFootball 2023 patch 1.22 has addressed a few of these issues.

eFootball 1.22 Patch Notes (3.0) – September 6, 2023

  1. New Season Data Updates:
    • The team structures of various leagues have been updated with data from the new season, including leagues like the English League, Italian League, Spanish League, Ligue 1 Uber Eats (France), Eredivisie (Netherlands), Liga Portugal Betclic (Portugal), Liga BBVA MX – Apertura 2023 (Mexico), and others.
  2. Gameplay Fixes and Adjustments:
    • Gameplay adjustments have been made with the emphasis on “improving play control liberty for better chance creations.”
    • Defensive adjustments have also been made to accommodate the changes made for attacking plays.

    Specific gameplay adjustments include:

    • Dribbling: Adjusted the speed balance between dribbling and defending, making players’ dribbling slightly faster.
    • Feints: Improved the response of various feints like body feints, Scissors Feints, Overtakes, Flip Flaps, and In & Outs.
    • Traps: Improved ball control and dribbling responses after ball touches and implemented adjustments for better awareness of the goal’s direction.
    • Passing: Adjustments for passes to allow players to choose more suitable teammates as the target and improve through ball positioning.
    • Shooting: Adjusted shooting speed for players with high “Kicking Power,” refined first-time shot animations, fixed trajectory issues with Chip Shots, and improved header motions for mid-air balls.
  1. Sharp Touch Command Change:
    • The default Sharp Touch command has been changed to “pressing Dash twice” from the previous behavior.
    • Players can revert to the original settings by going to [Command Configuration] > [Detailed Settings] > [Sharp Touch Type] and selecting “pressing once.”
  2. Team Playstyle Level:
    • “Team Playstyle Level” will no longer be a gameplay element starting from v3.0.0.
    • Players will no longer have “Team Playstyle Proficiency,” and their abilities will not be affected by Team Playstyle Proficiency values regardless of the adopted Team Playstyle.
  3. Player Images:
    • Certain Standard players previously had different player images at Max Level. This feature has been removed, and player images will no longer change.
    • Users who possess max level Player Cards with a different image will see the image being reverted back to the status at the timing of signing.
  4. Foil Player Cards:
    • Foil Player Cards, which could be signed from the Standard Player List at a low probability, are no longer available.
  5. Condition-related Player Stats:
    • In the pre-match [Game Plan] > [Player Details] screen, Condition-related increases/decreases of Player Stats are no longer displayed.
  6. Challenge Events:
    • Challenge Events with Event Conditions have been renamed as “Themed Events.”
    • Event-exclusive “Loan Players” have been introduced so that users can immediately participate in Themed Events even if they do not have enough players that match the Event Conditions.
  7. Weather Options:
    • The “Rainy” and “Snow” Weather options have been made available for certain stadiums.
  8. Base Team Settings:
    • “Base Team Settings” have been moved to the Game Plan, rather than the User Information.
    • Base Teams can now be set for each Game Plan.
  9. Player Training and Progression:
    • Level Training and Player Progression can now be performed from the Player Details screen in Game Plan.
  10. Updated Authentic Teams:
    • Selectable Authentic Teams in “Trial Match”/”Friend Match” have been updated.
  11. Data Carryover:
    • In-game assets and other data carryover process will be conducted when accessing the game for the first time after installing the version update.
  12. Licenses:
    • Updated licenses for various teams and leagues.
  13. Stadiums:
    • 6 new stadiums have been added to the game: Johan Cruijff ArenA, Estadio do Escorpião, Estadio del Nuevo Triunfo, Stadio Orione, Estadio del Martingal, Sports Park.
    • Various data related to stadiums have been updated.
  14. Miscellaneous Updates:
    • Updates and additions to various in-game assets, including player photos, graphics, manager photos, strips, boots, balls, goalkeeper’s gloves, club emblems, league and competition emblems, stadium graphics, spectators, trophies, media backdrops, pitch-side advertising boards, corner flags, cinematics and animations, commentary, menu music, and avatar images.
  15. Kicking:
    • Adjustments have been made to alleviate the issue of players taking an extra touch instead of playing one-touch passes and one-touch shots after a kick input.
    • More appropriate kick motions will now be triggered to reduce the frequency of players attempting shots with unnatural body positions.
    • Kick speed after a “Knock-on” input has been slightly reduced.
    • Fixed the issue where an incorrect kicking motion would be performed when the ball was far from the player’s feet.
    • Special kicking motions are now triggered based on raw Player Stats values instead of other factors like Condition.
    • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes score an own goal when trying to clear the ball in an unnatural body position.
  16. Defence:
    • Adjusted player positioning to make it easier to reclaim possession when applying pressure.
    • Adjusted player positioning in Match-ups.
    • Fixed an issue where players were sometimes slow to get up after performing a block.
    • Situational judgment of players has been adjusted to avoid clearly unreasonable blocks.
    • Adjustments have been made to blocks, correlating the coverage area with the “Defensive Awareness” Player Stat and Player Skills.
  17. Goalkeeper:
    • Re-implemented adjustments to ensure goalkeepers make appropriate decisions to catch an oncoming ball in the air instead of punching it away.
    • Fixed issues where the goalkeeper would sometimes not take any action after coming off his line.
    • Fixed an issue where the goalkeeper would miss a back pass resulting in an own goal.
    • Fixed issues with the trajectory of a punt kick from the goalkeeper.
  18. AI:
    • Adjustments have been made to the positioning of supporting players in relation to the ball holder to allow for smoother passing plays in attack.
    • Fixed issues where players trying to make runs behind the defensive line would sometimes jump out too late or move in a direction that made it difficult for them to receive the pass.
    • Full backs will no longer make overlapping runs outside the touchline.
    • Improvements have been made for players with “Roaming Flank” and “Fox in the Box” Playing Styles to enhance their movements and receiving actions.
    • Players with “Target Man” Playing Style will perform specific actions.
    • Adjustments have been made to increase the frequency of certain playing styles attempting runs behind the defensive line.
    • Positioning and receiving improvements for teammates during throw-ins.
    • Players in offside positions will quickly make themselves onside.
    • Players will adequately dodge away from teammates and their oncoming shots.
    • Adjustments to player positioning during man-marking.
    • Adjustments to player movements immediately after kick-off and during man-marking to address issues.
    • Fixes for defending players moving slower than expected when expecting Chipped Through Balls into the penalty area.
      • Increased the frequency of substitutions for AI-controlled teams.
      • Adjusted AI behavior in VS AI matches to make more appropriate decisions and actions based on individual characteristics. Difficulty balance for each Match Level has been adjusted.

Controls:

      • During set pieces, the “Call for the Ball” command under “Off the Ball Controls” will no longer be operable after the kicker has commenced the kicking motion.
      • Changed the default Sharp Touch command to “pressing Dash twice” to avoid unintended triggering. Original settings can be configured in [Command Configuration] > [Detailed Settings].
      • Off the Ball Controls are no longer available in Co-op.

Fouls:

      • Adjustments for fairer foul decisions under various circumstances.
      • Avoid calling an offside foul if a player involved in an offside position is likely to retain possession.

Other Gameplay Enhancements:

      • Improved cursor switching in defensive situations.
      • Adjusted Stamina consumption, especially for midfielders with high Stamina Player Stat.
      • Fixed issues with the Direction Guide arrow and match end timing.
      • Adjustments to how players’ Form affects their Conditions.
      • Added new animations for shooting, blocking, tackling, etc.

Global Improvements:

      • Adjusted stadium announcements’ acoustics.
      • Various minor adjustments made to each mode and matches to improve the overall gaming experience.
  1. The application may crash due to an error.
  2. In Co-op matches, if the receiver of the pass fails to take a touch and the ball is taken by the opponent, the passer may receive a play feedback for a failed pass.
  3. In Co-op matches, the “DF Line Control” play feedback is not displayed even if the user successfully lays an offside trap.
  4. In Co-op matches, performing the “In It Together” may see the goal scorer slip past the signboards during the goal celebration.
  5. When kicking a user who has already created another Match Room from the current Match Room, an alert may instead be displayed, and the Match Room may be closed unintendedly.
  6. Performing player or manager actions at a certain timing may result in the dialogue indicating that the action has been successfully performed not being displayed correctly.
  7. Performing Skill Training at a certain timing would result in users not being able to confirm nor check the status of Additional Skills.
  8. For players in certain positions, the player’s name may not be switched even after performing a cursor change.
  9. When certain players perform a goal celebration (Personal), the goal celebration may not be displayed correctly in the Replay.
  10. If substitutions are registered in Game Plan just as the first half begins and the match does not stop until half time, the second half may begin without the substitutions being made.
  11. If the Away side’s Player Name Boxes display is set to “Off,” information displayed in [Preset Tactics] will not switch.
  12. In certain languages, unsuitable commentary may be played.
  13. Performing certain commands during a match may result in the player not following through with the switchback motion after a Step-over.
  14. During penalty shootouts in Trial Match, users are able to open the Pause Menu before the players shoot the ball.
  15. Attempts to re-conduct Skill Training after encountering an error during the previous Skill Training would result in multiple Skill Training Programs being spent.
  16. In Tour Event, playing matches with certain settings may result in the Cursor Type of players not being displayed correctly.
  17. In Co-op Match Room, the [FK Taker 2] settings can be configured even though it is disabled in-match.
  18. In [Game Plan List], changes made to the capitalization of letters in [Rename Game Plan] are not reflected.
  19. Certain team names may not be used in [Extras] > [User Information] > [Dream Team].
