How to manually update PS4 system software?

PS4 System Software

  1. Connect to the Internet: Ensure your PS4 is online.
  2. Go to Settings: From the home screen, select “Settings” (toolbox icon).
  3. Select System Software Update: Scroll down and choose “System Software Update.”
  4. Update via Internet: Select “Update Using Internet” to check for updates.
  5. Install the Update: If an update is available, select “Next,” agree to the terms, and start the download. After downloading, select “Yes” to install. Your PS4 will restart during the process.

Update from PC

  1. On a USB drive formatted as FAT32, create a folder named “PS4,” then inside it, create a folder named “UPDATE.”
  2. Download the update file and save it in the “UPDATE” folder as “PS4UPDATE.PUP.”
  3. Plug the USB into your PS4.
  4. Start the PS4 in Safe Mode by holding the power button until you hear two beeps.
  5. Select “Update System Software,” then “Update from USB Storage Device” and press “OK.”
