Diablo 4 (D4) Update 2.02 Patch Notes | Season of Slaughter

Diablo 4 update 2.02 is available to download on PS4, PC and Xbox One. According to the official Diablo 4 2.02 patch notes, Season of Slaughter introduces the ability to become the Butcher, a Killstreak progression system, and Bloodied Items that scale with kill chains. New activities such as Slaughterhouses and Bloodied Sigils increase difficulty and rewards. The update also adds new Unique items, a Paladin free trial, and a limited-time DOOM crossover event with cosmetics and rewards. Apart from this, today’s D4 update 2.02 also includes overall performance and stability fixes.

Become the Butcher

• Players can transform into The Butcher for the first time in Diablo history.

• The Butcher uses unique skills focused on cleaving enemies, charging into combat, and pulling enemies with hooks.

• Slaying enemies while transformed grants Seasonal currency and resources.

A Taste of Power Questline

• Begins in Gea Kul on the Seasonal Realm.

• Introduces the path to unlocking and using The Butcher’s power.

Grisly Metamorphosis

Multiple methods allow transformation into the Butcher.

• Meaty Offerings

  • New consumable used at Shrines of Slaughter during Helltide.

  • Activating the shrine attracts enemies to the player for rapid combat.

• Ceremony of Slaughter (Fields of Hatred)

  • Replaces normal PvP in the area.

  • Players gain Savagery from kills to compete for dominance.

  • The winner claims The Butcher’s Idol and becomes the Butcher.

• Slaughterhouses

  • Dedicated activity where players remain The Butcher for the entire run.

• Killing enemies while transformed grants Fresh Meat, used to obtain Bloodied Items.

Killstreak System

A new progression system that rewards rapid kills.

• Killing enemies quickly begins a Killstreak.

• The streak continues if players deal damage or secure additional kills before the timer expires.

• Rewards scale with streak size.

• When the streak ends, players receive experience and seasonal reputation based on total kills and tier reached.

Bloodied Items

A new item quality tied to Killstreak performance.

• Can drop on any item type.

• Can appear alongside other qualities such as Ancestral.

• Affixes scale with Killstreak Tier.

Bloodied Affix Categories

Rampage

• Power increases with Killstreak Tier.

• Found on Armor.

Example:

• Gain 7% movement speed per Killstreak Tier.

Feast

• Combat bonuses based on total kills during the streak.

• Found on Weapons.

Example:

• Every 40 kills resets one random cooldown.

Hunger

• Improves reward drops depending on Killstreak Tier.

• Found on Jewelry.

Example:

• Elite enemies drop Runes more frequently.

Slaughterhouses

New activity focused entirely on playing as The Butcher.

• Players remain in Butcher form for the entire run.

• Objective focuses on eliminating large numbers of enemies quickly.

Bloodied Sigils

Special sigils that increase difficulty and rewards.

• Available in Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and Lair Boss activities.

• Unlock after reaching Torment I.

• Activities are roughly one Torment Tier harder than normal.

Relentless Butcher Affix

• A Butcher hunts the player continuously during the activity.

• Defeating the Butcher causes him to respawn immediately.

• It is possible to encounter two Butchers simultaneously.

• Bloodied Sigils guarantee Bloodied Item drops.

Bloodsoaked Sigils

• Extremely difficult content, comparable to Pit Tier 100.

• Reward multiple guaranteed Bloodied Items.

New Unique Items

All new Uniques drop from the Butcher Lair Boss and remain permanent after the season.

Blood-Mad Idol – Unique Amulet

• 51–65 All Stats

• 8.3–10% Attack Speed

• 7–8% Critical Strike Chance

• 17.5–31.5% Damage Reduction while Injured

Power:

• Character is always Berserking.

• Takes 200% increased Burning damage over 8 seconds.

• Berserking grants 75–125% increased damage while Burning.

Wendigo Brand – Unique Ring

• 424–457 Life

• 855–1086 Life Regen

• 146–159 Life on Hit

• 441–490 Physical Resistance

Power:

• Every 15 kills within 30–60 seconds increases:

  • Damage by 2%

  • Maximum Health by 1%

Rustbitten Dirk – Unique Dagger

• 51–65 All Stats

• 424–457 Life

• 8.3–10% Attack Speed

• 40–50% Vulnerable Damage

Power:

• Deals 50–100% increased damage to isolated enemies.

Usable by: Sorcerer, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer

Wyrdskin – Unique Gloves

• 424–457 Life

• +1–2 Core Skill Ranks

• 7–8% Critical Strike Chance

• 8.3–10% Attack Speed

Power:

• Attacks apply:

  • Vulnerable to distant enemies

  • Weakened to close enemies

• Deal 10–30% increased damage to enemies affected by both.

Thousand-Eye Reaver – Unique One-Handed Axe

• 424–457 Life

• 7–8% Critical Strike Chance

• 36.5–50% Movement Speed on Elite Kill

• Lucky Hit: Up to 40% chance to deal 900–2400 Physical damage

Power:

• Movement grants Ferocity stacks.

• Maximum Ferocity increases by 1–3.

• Each stack grants 4–8% Movement Speed.

Usable by: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin

Paladin Free Trial

• Runs March 11–18 at 10 a.m. PT.

• Available on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation.

• Players can try the Paladin class up to Level 25.

• Progress can carry over with Lord of Hatred pre-purchase.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Collaboration

Limited-time crossover event.

Event Activities

• Kill Elite and Champion enemies to earn Dark Ages Currency.

• Progress through the DOOM Reliquary for themed rewards.
