Dead by Daylight update 3.48 (9.0.1) is available to download on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. According to the official DBD update 3.48 patch notes, the latest update brings a major overhaul to the AFK Crows system with longer intervals and stricter point gain conditions, alongside a complete scoring rework for The Animatronic that enhances gameplay clarity. In addition, DBD patch 3.48 also includes new Survivor score events, a wide range of bug fixes, environmental stability, and audio consistency across all platforms.

DBD 9.0.1 Patch Summary

  • AFK Crows system rebalanced with longer intervals and slower point gain during key game phases.
  • Animatronic scoring reworked, now granting Deviousness and Brutality points with added clarity.
  • New score events added for Survivors interacting with The Animatronic.
  • Audio and visual bug fixes for multiple characters, maps, and actions.

Gameplay Features

AFK Crows System Adjustments

  • Extended Intervals for Gaining AFK Crows

    • Players now receive AFK Crows at longer intervals:

      • 120 seconds for the first crow (was 60 seconds)

      • 140 seconds for the second crow (was 75 seconds)

      • 180 seconds for the third crow (was 90 seconds)

  • Grace Period Before Accumulating AFK Points Increased

    • The system now waits 30 seconds after inactivity before beginning to accrue AFK points.
      (Previously began at 10 seconds)

  • Reduced AFK Point Accrual Rate While Moving

    • Survivors who are technically moving but not engaging in interactions now accumulate AFK points at a 25% rate, down from 50%.

  • New AFK Accrual Rate After Exit Gates Are Powered

    • When the exit gates are powered, the AFK point accumulation drops to 25%, limiting potential exploitation during the endgame. (New rule)

  • AFK Points Fully Reset After Completing Interactions

    • Performing any in-game interaction now completely resets AFK points.
      (Previously reduced the count by 60 points per interaction)


🎮 Content Updates

The Animatronic – Gameplay & Scoring Changes

  • Improved Security Camera UI Clarity

    • The color representing the Survivor’s door position on Security Cameras has been adjusted for better aura color distinction, enhancing visual clarity during high-stakes moments.

Killer Score Event Rework for The Animatronic
  • Got ‘Em

    • Now awards points under the Deviousness category (was Brutality).

    • Triggers an additional Hit score event awarding 300 Brutality points (new).

  • Yoink

    • Now classified under Deviousness (was Brutality).

    • Also triggers a Hit score event that grants 300 Brutality points (new).

  • Another One!

    • Scoring category changed to Deviousness (was Hunter).

  • Look at You

    • Now grants points in the Deviousness category (was Hunter).

New Survivor Score Events (Animatronic-specific)
  • Say Cheese

    • 700 Boldness points awarded when a Survivor reveals the Killer via Security Camera. (New)

  • Do It Yourself

    • 350 Survival points for self-removing an attached Fire Axe. (New)

  • Friend in Need

    • 500 Altruism points granted for helping another Survivor remove a Fire Axe via a cooperative action. (New)

  • Door to Door

    • 100 Survival points for entering a Security Door. (New)

Twisted Masquerade – 9th Anniversary Celebration

  • The annual Twisted Masquerade returns for its 9th Anniversary, starting on:

    • Thursday, June 26th at 11:00 AM Eastern Time


🐞 Bug Fixes

Archives

  • Resolved an issue where the error message “Invalid input: This item is not in the user’s inventory database” was incorrectly displayed when interacting with certain Archive items.


Audio

  • Fixed a looping issue where Security Camera sound effects continued indefinitely after the Survivor stopped controlling the camera.

  • Resolved a bug where the Hatch’s SFX could be heard when transitioning between Security Doors.

  • Corrected a problem where the Killer’s Terror Radius was not audible while Survivors were inside Security Doors and both parties remained idle.

  • Adjusted Security Camera movement SFX so they now play consistently, even when not viewing the exact camera being used.

  • Fixed missing chase music for Survivors when being pursued by Victor.

  • Resolved a missing voice line for The Animatronic when interacting with an occupied locker.

  • Fixed a bug where the Axe sound effect from The Animatronic was audible even when the Axe was thrown outside the playable map area.

  • Corrected an issue where French voice lines for The Good Guy were not playing.

  • Balanced the sound levels of The Artist’s Leshen outfit, which were louder than intended.


The Animatronic – Gameplay & Visual Bugs

  • Fixed a camera issue where Survivors saw a single map frame when switching through Security Cameras.

  • Resolved an error that occurred when a Survivor was hit by the Animatronic’s Axe while under the effect of Endurance.

  • Fixed a condition where The Animatronic’s Grab Axe action became temporarily disabled if a Survivor used an emote during the animation.

  • Resolved a bug preventing The Animatronic from grabbing Survivors during a co-op Axe removal interaction.

  • Adjusted the priority of UI prompts so that “Remove Axe” no longer overrides “Travel Via Passage”.

  • Fixed a scoring issue where Got ‘Em triggered incorrectly when targeting hooked Survivors.

  • Resolved inconsistent Survivor carrying speed while using The Animatronic.

  • Fixed an exploit where Security Doors could be activated from behind.

  • Fixed visual oddities with The Animatronic’s Security Room jumpscare, which had abrupt fade-in/out transitions.

  • Corrected a display bug with the Retrieve Axe prompt when the Axe was thrown off the map.

  • Fixed co-op Fire Axe removal actions not being interrupted by a Killer’s attack.

  • Resolved a major sync issue where entering a Security Door behind The Animatronic during a grab led to desync.

  • Fixed bugs causing The Animatronic’s Axe to disappear when:

    • Thrown into a Security Door.

    • Thrown at the lower part of interactive objects (e.g., breakable doors).

  • Resolved a deformation issue with The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit face after reclaiming the Axe.

  • Fixed a visual glitch where The Animatronic was briefly invisible after exiting a Security Door.


Character Fixes

  • Fixed a bug causing certain Killers to appear without weapons in the Main Menu.

  • Corrected an issue where the camera froze after panning when The Onryō performed a Mori.

  • Fixed missing animations for Killers on the Main Menu.

  • Resolved a bug where The Plague’s movement speed was stuck at 4.4 after being pallet stunned while charging Vile Purge.

  • Fixed a bug where Corrupt Purge did not revert back to Vile Purge if its timer expired mid-action.

  • Corrected camera stutter issues when The Ghoul grabbed Survivors using its power.

  • Fixed cooldown inconsistencies for Kagune Leap when The Ghoul destroyed pallets.

  • Ensured Enraged mode cooldown bonuses are correctly applied to The Ghoul’s actions.

  • Fixed a problem with ‘Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass’ where hooks did not convert when Victor was being controlled.

  • Resolved an issue where Survivors did not gain the Broken status after missing a No Quarter skill check against The Houndmaster.

  • Fixed an exploit where The Houndmaster’s dog skipped leap animations on redirected pallet vaults.

  • Corrected a tutorial bug where Dwight couldn’t self-unhook properly.


Environment / Maps

  • Fixed stretched carpet textures in the Father Campbell’s Chapel main building.

  • Resolved placeholder hook textures in Autohaven Wreckers.

  • Fixed a major bug preventing basement access on the Shelter Woods map.

  • Fixed a Security Door interaction bug affecting The Animatronic across multiple maps.

  • Removed a placeholder tile from Coldwind Farm.

  • Fixed projectile collision errors with invisible geometry on a wooden table in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

  • Resolved camera clipping issues with The Houndmaster’s spawn animation in Withered Isle.

  • Fixed invisible collision issues affecting projectiles in the Gideon Meat Plant.

  • Addressed exploitable collision spots that allowed players to climb objects in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.


Platform-Specific Fixes

  • Resolved a launch crash issue on Switch 2.

  • Fixed directional SFX issues for Survivors after exiting Security Camera view.
    (Steam fix was previously deployed last week)


UI Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the warning “Cannot start with 2 Killer(s)” disappeared when transitioning from the Store to a Custom Game lobby.

  • Resolved a potential crash that could occur when exiting a Trial immediately after making progress on a challenge.


Miscellaneous

  • Fixed interaction priority so picking up a downed Survivor no longer overrides searching lockers, improving interaction accuracy in tight spaces.

Previously, a big Dead by Daylight update 8.7.0 was released which added a new Killer (The Onryō) and a new survivor (Yoichi Asakawa). Unfortunately, players are facing various issues with the game. Today’s Dead by Daylight patch 3.48 will address a few of these issues.
