Borderlands 4 update 1.090.001 is now available to download on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. According to the official BL4 update 1.090.001 patch notes, the latest update adds Bounty Pack 4, Vault Card 4, new Pearlescent and Legendary gear, dedicated loot sources, and major improvements to boss encounters, mission progression, character skills, UI, multiplayer, and overall game stability. Additionally, Borderlands 4 patch 1.090.001 also resolves a large number of gameplay and technical issues

Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions*
Levaine, leader of the Electi, has been contacted by an unlikely group of new potential allies: The Flock, a commune of pacifist Rippers who gave up violent slaughter for chill vibes. They’ve made camp in a polluted desert canyon known as the Toxic Scowl, but now their buzz is being harshed by The Blasphemers, an aggressive group of Rippers who have taken over a nearby Order facility.
New loot unique to this new Bounty Pack includes:

Bounty Pack 4: Vault Card 4 lets you earn new rewards through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear to unlock! Here’s the full rundown of the new Vault Card’s unlocks:

Pearlescents and Dedicated Drops
The eight Pearlescent weapons from the Version 1.7 update now have dedicated drop sources, in addition to being world drops. Additionally, we have added two new Pearlescent weapons and one Legendary with dedicated spots in Kairos; you’ll have to discover them for yourself to see what they do!

Gameplay/Systems
Bounty Pack 3: A Zane To Kill For**
- Loot from fighting Brain Zane will drop in easily reachable areas so you’ll never miss your rewards
- A Fast Travel station replaces the old revive station near the Big Encore machine
- Skipping a Bounty Pack intro cutscene lets future intro cutscenes play as expected
- The Giant Zane Head receives hits accurately, and Minion Zanies now clear out immediately when the main boss falls
- CL34n.R will release a powerful fire wave attack if you miss the skill check during Firewall cast
- Defeating CL34n.R unlocks the red chest once per victory
- Green orbs appear reliably for the Data Tower skill check during the F1x.R fight and F1x.R will continue to attack players regardless of where they stand
- Prance Revolution resets when you get off the platform 💥
- Wack-A-Balex payouts at high levels have been adjusted
- Brain Zane remains in the arena during multiplayer matches, even after a defeat or a difficulty change
- Biff Fistful and eyeball drones will not respawn after a period of time
- The Moxxi’s Big Encore for Biff Fistful unlocks once every player leaves the arena, and arena block structures are now strictly off-limits for jumping
- Glitched enemies activate their trait more often, have more health, and stand their ground without staggering as easily
- Stage 2 of the Digi-Zane boss will rotate properly
- Visual glitch effects display continuously on all Glitched enemies
Takedown at Hadron Abyss
- Updated the flow for getting into the Takedown after your first completion. After beating the Takedown, you’ll be able to jump right in when initiating mission replay!
- Completing a boss fight in the Takedown will pause the timer and leave it visible
- The Child of Terramorphus boss arena resets properly if you die during Phase 2
- Attacks connect cleanly against the Child of Terramorphus as soon as it emerges from the water in Phase 2
- Water doesn’t rise if Child of Terramorphous is killed during Phase 1, allowing players to more easily reach their loot
- Defeated minibosses stay down during the “kill minibosses” objective
- Enemies continue spawning throughout miniboss fights to keep the action going
- Leaving the game from the Takedown will spawn you at the correct Fast Travel station
- Sliding down the entry slope into Research Center B-0451 feels much smoother
- Removed the “All Players Required” requirement when following “get to the airlock” objectives in the Takedown, and ensured the objective updates when a player moves quickly
- Full audio effects now play during Takedown combat encounters and inside the Takedown menu
- Takedown ECHO Logs will remain when sorting by region
- Collecting Eldritch Phonographs and finishing the Takedown will trigger celebratory notifications to mark your achievement
Circle of Slaughter
- Stocked an empty Guns machine when entering Silent Crisis: Time Scope 5
- Prevented Vex from reaching the top of the room in Silent Crisis: Time Scope 5
- Transitioning from multiplayer to single-player during the Circle of Slaughter preserves your progress so you can keep fighting uninterrupted
- Enemies are encouraged to target you when fast traveling to Kairos from the Penalty Box
- The wave tracker accurately displays your current wave, even when you focus down minions first
Subjugator and Thol the Invincible
- Boss combat resets when all players are outside of the boss arena
- Increased the radius of Thol’s Area of Effect and Melee attacks in Phase 2
- Fire attacks from Thol no longer injure you when in the upper arena of Lair of the Subjugator
- Thol no longer heals when attacking shield spots in Phase 2 and 3
- Subjugator’s Wrath enemies will take critical damage when shot in the eye during Phase 4
- Items will no longer fall through the ground in Subjugator and Thol the Invincible’s boss arena
- Adjusted some areas in Subjugator and Thol the Invincible’s arenas to better keep you in the fight
- Prevented loot dropped during Subjugator’s fight from spinning and preventing you from viewing the item card
Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon*
- Enemies no longer stand on the bottom of water in the Heart of the Mountain
- Added additional collision to the Chisabella fight
- Red chest spawns in The Demon’s Domain will spawn additional waves when pressing the button
Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned***
- Updated Bloodstone and Eridium Kraggon’s Heavy Charge Shot to avoid it timing out
- Badass Lunatic and Bogan the Butcher are no longer blocked on the path when you enter a storage container
- Creating a level 13 character will automatically reveal Fast Travels and the first faction town
- The red storm appears fully on the map when it is time
Base Game
- It’s a Whole Phase Situation – You can still progress by going through Rift Portals in any order
- Meat is Murder – Knocking on the bunker door lets you confront the killer in Mission Replay
- Added a drop assist to help loot land in more reachable locations
- Flying enemies no longer move improperly when using ranged attacks
- Enemies no longer move to a new location to perform a ranged attack if they don’t have to
- Elemental Chains beam count lowered from 10 to 3
- Explosions from Tediore Shooting Legs count toward the “Kill Enemies with Tediore Guns and Gear” Vault Card Challenge
- The “Kill Order enemies” challenges will progress when the requirements are met
- ECHOlocation path improvements and corrected waypoints on various missions
- Addressed missing or misplaced grapple points, and corrected prompts and highlight points for grapples
- Brought floating items back down to the ground and prevented clipping
- Filled map holes and stuck spots so you can keep progressing through missions
- Environmental decals, weapon models, and world textures have been updated to display more accurately
Player Characters
C4SH the Rogue
- Using melee while Cross-Fire is active and using a jump pad will keep you on the jump’s trajectory
- The Grasping Tentacle card will attach to walls and ceilings
- Insurance: Applies the correct amount of Fortune stacks when switching equipped shields
- Cross-Fire will target Subjugator the Invincible in Phase 4 from further back
- While making this change, we’ve also updated Rafa’s turret to increase its distance for this fight
- Prestidigitator stacks are only gained when dealing critical hits to enemies; doing damage to yourself no longer gains stacks
Harlowe the Gravitar
- Retriggering Group Study doesn’t cause other Vault Hunters’ Action Skills to drain faster
- Flux Generator x Potential Transference: Flux Generator is no longer forced into immediate cooldown when unequipping a Heavy Weapon Ordnance
- HALO Sidekick name plate has been removed
- Unstable Ice-otope increases Cryo damage when using grenades with Cryo elements
- Chain Reactor reliably deals bonus Radiation damage in multiplayer
- Darts from Skeptic deal damage when a new enemy is put into Stasis
Rafa the Exo-Soldier
- Charge Burst shares damage taken every 0.5 seconds, rather than all damage
- Per My Last has been optimized to work more efficiently
- Rep Kits no longer prevent the health drain from Inferno Protocol
- Protecto-Pulse visuals appear in multiplayer
- Hell in a Shell Firebombs move faster, have increased radius, and better home in on enemies
- Projectiles from Hazardous Payload deal intended damage.
Gear
General
- Corrected some interactions with various gear to ensure they were working as intended:
- 2-tier Rubberband Man and 3-tier Skillcraft Firmware
- Using a Repkit and immediately throwing grenades at a group of enemies
- Guns with multiple projectiles per shot acknowledge the number of projectiles in calculations
- Functionally, you’ll see some changes to Sticky Damage for anything with more than two projectiles, and a difference in damage done by throwing Tediores with two or more projectiles
Pearlescents
- Pearlescents with increased reload stats increase just the reload speed.
- Conflux Maliwan Sniper Rifle will share that active status effect of the Override damage after killing the enemy with the Maliwan Transfuser enhancement
- Reduced the self-damage from Overcharging the Abyss Sniper Rifle by ~10%
Daedalus
- Daedalus Pistols with Ripper mags now fire at a faster rate
Ripper
- Jail-Broken Gatling: Extra projectiles will fire, even if the UVH difficulty is changed or the Mission Replay is exited, causing it to clear its stocks more reliably.
- Fixed the Observer drone from trying to target the player if they take splash damage from the grenade explosion. Addressed a reported issue when hitting the Digi-Zane boss’s barrier, where the Observer drone would target a spot behind the boss and result in not dealing damage to the boss
- Draupner’s Curse has been updated so projectiles return briefly after hitting enemies, instead of a set duration
Torgue
- Countermeasure Grenade: Optimized performance when throwing multiple grenades in a short amount of time
Vladof
- Light Gun Sniper Rifle will reload from the crouched position when swapping from another weapon
Audio/Visuals
Visuals
- Removed duplicate GenIVIV Constructor Drones during Potty Mouth
- Addressed reported instances of inconsistent visuals, effects, and animations
- Added missing or inconsistent audio and voiceover
UI/Menus
Inventory
- Reordered equipped weapons to be at the top of the list when applying customizations
- Vehicle customizations appear at the correct resolution
- Items stay visible and Filters will persist after closing and reopening Backpack menu
New Characters
- Creating a new character with Shared Progression off will grant the correct amount of SDU Tokens
- Characters are able to be deleted after canceling a Vault Hunter selection in Multiplayer
- You can start a new save file, even after regaining internet connection while in the Main Menu after it was lost
Map
- The Big Map in the menu has new Fast Travel station icons for added activities to help you better understand where you can travel
- Big Map saves your current position and zoom level when closing and reopening
- Last Death icons are more consistent when dying outside of the Big Map
- Hide and Show map markers will be saved when opening the Map Legend
- Prevented unintentionally toggling icon visibility in the Map when the Map Legend is closed
Menus
- Changed the appearance of the UVH difficulty selector to better accommodate the interface
- Firmware Transfer Machine tooltips adjusted
- Increased amount of visible passive buffs to 10
- Increased scrolling speed on controller
- UVH Challenge list will only display the current tier of challenges
- Dying while in the HUD tutorial will no longer lock up characters
- Made adjustments to the Bounty Board mission for Subjugator and Thol the Invincible for smoother gameplay
- Adjustments to text formatting, typos, icon, prompts, and notification displays
Photo Mode
- Cleaned up visual effects when toggling visibility for Enemies, Bosses, NPCs, and Summons
SHiFT Cross-Saves
- Updated Cross-Platform Save iconography for legibility
- Error messages from “Cloud Profile Inaccessible” and “Conflict Warning” messages are able to be closed
Player Experience
Crashes, Performance, Stability
- [Steam Deck] Performance Mode has been adjusted to better maintain maximum frame rate
- Players will glide smoothly after being hit in multiplayer with different network conditions
- Improvements to stability and optimization
- Dev Note: We are continuing to investigate and will make further improvements to stability and performance.
Previously, a BL4 update 1 added quality of life changes. Unfortunately, many players are still facing issues while playing the game. Today’s BL4 patch 1.090.001 will fix a few of these issues. More fixes are coming with Borderlands 4 update 1.100.
