Apex Update 2.90 Patch Notes for PS4, PC and Xbox One – July 17, 2025

Respawn has released a new Apex Legends update 2.90 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. According to the official Apex 2.90 patch notes, the latest update brings balancing changes for Revenant, Ash, Alter, Ballistic, Vantage, and Wattson. Today’s Apex Legends version 2.90 also fixes Bangalore Smoke, Mixtape grenade respawns, Training Mode issues, Vantage’s Passive, and bot pathing.

Summary

  • Balance updates for Ash, Revenant, Wattson, Vantage, Ballistic, and Alter.

  • Fixed Bangalore Smoke exploit for vision through smoke.

  • Improved bot pathing and fixed Training Mode connection errors.

Legend Balance Changes

Revenant

  • Legend Class changed to Assault.

  • Tactical (Pounce)

    • Minimum velocity increased from 700 → 800.

    • Maximum velocity increased from 1150 → 1400.

    • Improved ground detection for faster weapon readiness after landing.


Ash

  • Legend Class changed to Skirmisher.

  • Ultimate maximum distance reduced from 100m → 75m.

  • Upgrade changed:

    • Charged Knock replaced with Marked for Death (reveals enemy deathboxes on map).


Alter

  • Increased time for knocked allies to use portal by +1 second.

  • Replaced Friends upgrade with Controller of Worlds (grants Controller perks).

  • Increased Chase Portal duration from 8s → 10s.

  • Decreased Portal Warning Time from 3.5s → 2.5s.


Ballistic

  • Tempest Ultimate no longer provides speed boost to allies.

  • Ballistic retains personal speed boost.

  • Base Tactical Charges reduced from 2 → 1.


Vantage

  • Ultimate: Laser duration reduced from 15s → 10s.

  • Upgrade:

    • Sniper Cover Gunshield HP increased from 40 → 75.

    • Updated VFX color.


Wattson

  • Upgrade:

    • Ultimate Conductor Knock Burst increased from 30% → 50% Ultimate Charge.


Gameplay Fixes

Training Mode

  • Fixed issue where players failed to connect on first or second attempt.

Bangalore

  • Fixed exploit where players could see through Bangalore’s Smoke.

Mixtape Modes

  • Fixed bug causing players to respawn holding grenades instead of primary weapons.

Vantage

  • Fixed Spotter’s Lens to accurately display enemy shield counts.

Bocek Bow

  • Adjusted Sparrow’s ADS position for natural alignment.


UI and Visual Fixes

PlayStation

  • Fixed overlapping PlayStation logos with Battle Pass UI.

Event Store

  • Fixed Event Store Button routing to wrong pages.


Bot Improvements

  • Improved AI bot pathing for smoother navigation.

Haute Shot Collection Event (July 15 – August 5, 2025)

Arenas: Duels LTM

  • Legend Abilities Enabled

    • Legend abilities now active in Arenas: Duels for enhanced tactical play.

    • Randomized Legend, loadout, and mirrored spawn location remain unchanged.

  • Rules Update:

    • Kills = Wins

    • Timeouts = Draws

Legends Adjustments

Caustic

  • Nox Gas Trap duration increased to 22s (was 11s)

  • Enemy traps now highlighted

Mirage

  • Power Sword VFX no longer visible while cloaked

Wattson

  • Energized Healer now functions correctly

  • Ultimate Conductor no longer charges incorrectly

Bug Fixes

Gameplay

  • Arenas: Duels now ends with Kills = Wins

  • Timeout matches result in draws

  • New DMA detections implemented

  • Fixed issue where players could slide or interact with Respawn Beacons farther than intended

  • Various crash fixes

Previously, Apex Legends update 2.87 added Arenas: Duels, a limited-time 1v1 mode focused on raw gunplay with no abilities until July 15. Unfortunately, since the last Apex patch 2.67, players are still experiencing a number of issues with the game. Today’s Apex Legends patch 2.90 will fix a few of these issues.
