Respawn has released a new Apex update 2.71 for PS4, PC and Xbox consoles. According to the official Apex 2.71 patch notes, the latest update introduces the nostalgic Launch Royale, Lifeline’s revived kit, cosmic Rift Relics, enhanced Support Class Perks, and the deadly Raptor’s Claw melee. Apart from this, today’s Apex version 2.71 also brings balance improvements across weapons, care packages, and Legends, with significant focus on health and ammo awareness.

Apex Legends™: From The Rift – Patch Notes
Summary of Key Changes:
- New Limited-Time Mode (LTM): Launch Royale returns to the classic Apex Legends experience with original weapons, Legends, and maps.

Lifeline Revived

- Combat Glide (Passive): Hold jump mid-air to glide using D.O.C.
- D.O.C. Heal Drone (Tactical): Assign D.O.C. to follow and heal nearby allies.
- D.O.C. Halo (Ultimate): Activate a shield system to boost healing speed for all players within the Halo.
- Upgrades: Improve Lifeline’s tactical abilities and D.O.C.’s fuel, assignment range, and cooldown.
Rift Relics
- Cosmic Weapons: Unstable Rift Relics drop powerful weapons like the EPG-1 Launcher with rocket jumping and splash damage.
- New Hop-Ups: Gain health with every hit and instantly refill health and armor on headshots.
- Survival Items: Boost Kits in the Survival Slot provide additional advantages throughout the match.
Support Class Perks
- Heal Expert: Support Legends move at full speed while healing, and small meds heal double the amount.
- Revive Expert: Support Legends revive 25% faster and grant health regeneration to revived allies.
- Additional Perk: Banners now spawn Mobile Respawn Beacons in ally Death Boxes, visible only to Support Legends.
New Universal Melee: Raptor’s Claw
- Unlock Window: Available in the Void Mercenary Store from Nov 5, 2024, to Jan 7, 2025, with additional variants and matching Death Boxes.
Skill Display Improvements
- Live Match Balancing: A new system shows player rank distribution before matches, providing insight into matchmaking balance.
Battle Sense
- Health State Awareness:
- Added voice lines for low health and shields.
- Healing HUD icon flashes when low on health.
- Heal prompt added for low health.
- Ammo State Awareness:
- Added voice lines for low ammo.
- Ammo counter pulses red at critical levels.
- Low Ammo prompt lowered on HUD.
- Settings option added to toggle or limit frequency of voice lines and prompts.
Care Package
- Devotion:
- Returned to floor loot.
- Spin-up time decreased.
- Hipfire accuracy reduced; turbocharger removed.

- Damage increased to 19 (from 18).

- Crafting Stations: All Legends can craft Banner Cards.

- Can now be tracked and pinged through walls.

- Boosted Loader: Activates at 0 ammo, now available on Sentinel.

- Hammerpoint Rounds: Reduced spawn rate.

- L-STAR EMG:
- Damage increased to 18 (was 17).
- Gold magazines reduce cooldown more than purple.
- Cool-off animations smoothed.
- Longbow: Damage increased to 60 (was 55).
- P2020 Akimbo: Improved base hipfire accuracy.
- Rampage LMG:
- Increased revved decay rate and energized capacity.
- Thermite charge now triggers a reload.
- Sentinel: Boosted Loader improves magazine size; energized capacity and total time increased.
- Spitfire LMG: Damage increased to 19 (was 18).
- Peacekeeper & Triple Take: Increased choke speed; Triple Take fire rate slightly increased.
Legends
Support Legends:
- New Class Perks:
- Heal Expert: Full speed while healing, small med heals doubled.
- Revive Expert: Faster revives with health regeneration; Mobile Respawn Beacons spawn with crafted banners or inside ally Death Boxes.
Conduit:
- Savior’s Speed: Works on Death Boxes, Respawn Beacons, and has no range limit for downed allies.
- Battpack: Now shows battery counts in Death Boxes.
Crypto:
- Surveillance Drone: Takes 10% ring damage per tick.
- Off the Grid Upgrade: Players can spot faint flicker effects on cloaked Cryptos; increased cloaked audio range.
Gibraltar:
- Dome of Protection: Cooldown reduced to 17s (was 30s), immune to Crypto’s EMP and Maggie’s Wrecking Ball.
- Upgrades: New offensive options like “Fast Shotties” (increased movement speed and auto-reload with shotguns).
Newcastle:
- Mobile Shield: Now invulnerable; can be repositioned even when downed.
- Retrieve the Wounded: Revive Shield HP increased by 50%.
- Castle Wall: HP increased to 500, grants shield regen to allies within range.
Revenant:
- Forged Shadows: Now regenerates up to 50 HP with a 3s delay.
Wattson:
- Gains access to new Revive Expert perk.
Modes
Launch Royale
- Return to Season 1 Apex Legends with original Kings Canyon map and loot distribution.
- Gameplay Changes:
- No Evo Shields; armor pieces are static and must be picked up.
- Reintroduced mechanics: “bunny hop” healing, “punch boosting,” infinite zipline jumps (max 3 before cooldown).
- No class perks or fortified perks, and no auto shield regen on finishers (except for Gold Armor).
Legend Changes
- Stats and abilities reverted to Season 1 balancing.
- Notable Reintroduction: bunny hopping, punch boosting, and infinite zipline interactions.
Equipment Changes
- Season 1 tuning for attachments and equipment.
- Gold Item Passives Restored:
- Gold Knockdown: Self-revive.
- Gold Backpack: Fast heal.
- Gold Armor: Shield regeneration on finisher.
Weapon Changes

- Squad Heal: Nearby teammates also heal when player uses consumables.
- Nessies: Summon Nessie companions to fight enemies.
Relic Weapons:
- Relic Alternator: Disruptor rounds.
- Relic Wingman: Skullpiercer attachment.

Graphics & Performance
- DirectX 12 Finalized: Significant improvements in stability and performance, especially in CPU-bottlenecked scenarios.
- Fixed stuttering and low FPS issues, especially in the lobby.
Bug Fixes
- All Legends unlocked in Bot Royale.
- Fixed Ballistic’s Ult affecting the L-Star’s overheat animation.
- Addressed issues with Gunshield Generator and projectile damage carryover.
Quality of Life Updates
- Mobile Respawn Beacons now deploy faster.

Apex Packs:

- Voidling Phase 2: Fixed a bug where the Voidling would not reappear after starting the second phase of its battle.
- False Son Boss:
- Fixed issues with False Son’s ‘charged’ attack not working properly with high player attack speed.
- Resolved problems with missing animations during the False Son’s boss fight.
- Fixed the large boss health bar not reappearing after phase changes.
- Addressed players being trapped outside the boss room after being resurrected by Seeker.
- Prime Meridian platforms now change phases correctly for all players, not just the host.
- Achievement bug fix: Prime Meridian event no longer unlocks prematurely when using the Artifact of Swarms.
Multiplayer & Crossplay:
- Prime Meridian Lightning: Lightning now targets all players equally in multiplayer sessions, not just the host.
- Connection Issues: Fixed various crossplay session issues where players wouldn’t spawn or join properly, including missing error messages when joining lobbies.
Visual & UI:
- Mul-T Sentry Skin: Tweaked to eliminate a visual spike and fixed freezing visual effects.
- Controller Glyphs: Correct glyphs now display for PlayStation controllers on PC (previously showed Xbox glyphs).
- Prismatic Trial: Resolved an issue with leaderboard times not displaying.
Miscellaneous:
- Seeker’s Spirit Punch: Fixed double-damage bug caused by collisions.
- Noxious Thorns: Resolved issue causing monsters to attack each other when applying bleed, and fixed incorrect debuff stacking behavior.
- Wandering Vagrant’s Orbs: Fixed an issue where homing orbs could become invincible.
- Mysterious Tree: Removed the floating tree from a specific Aphelian Sanctuary version.
- Xi Construct Removal: This creature no longer appears in the Aphelian Bulwark Ambry Variant.

Previously, Apex Legends update 2.66 added a new Limited-Time Mode (LTM), Knockout, along with 36 event-themed items, including a Mythic melee item. Unfortunately, since the last Apex patch 2.67, players are still experiencing a number of issues with the game. Today’s Apex patch 2.71 will fix a few of these issues.
