American Truck Simulator update 1.49 is available on PC (Steam). According to the official American Truck Simulator patch notes, the update introduces HDR Skyboxes, new weather effects, the PACCAR Technical Center, Keybind Modifiers, an enhanced damage system, Special Transport DLC, and automatic headlights. Apart from this, ATS patch 1.49 also includes various tweaks and changes.
Previously, a minor American Truck Simulator update 1.45 was with tweaks and fixes. Unfortunately, since the last patch, players are experiencing issues with the game. Today’s ATS update 1.49 will fix a few of these issues.

ATS Update 1.49 patch notes – November 23, 2023
- HDR Skyboxes, Moon, and Weather Effects:
- Addition of the Moon: Responding to player requests, the Moon has been added back into the night sky, enhancing realism in the virtual trucking experience.
- Dynamic Stars: The night sky now features dynamic stars that twinkle, adding to the authenticity of the night-time experience.
- High Dynamic Range (HDR): The skyboxes are now in HDR, offering richer and more vibrant colors.
- Upgraded Weather Visual Effects: Thunderstorms now include visible lightning, adding to the immersive experience.
- PACCAR Technical Center:
- The update features a 1:1 realistic recreation of the PACCAR Technical Center in Washington.
- The center is presented as a hub of innovation and development for truck manufacturers like Kenworth and Peterbilt.
- Although not immediately visible on the in-game map, it offers a discovery experience for players, including an Easter egg.
- Used Truck Dealers Feature:
- Introduction of a used trucks feature, allowing players to purchase trucks that are more budget-friendly.
- Used trucks come with a star rating and a detailed breakdown of damage to various parts.
- An enhanced damage and repair system categorizes damage into three types: standard damage, parts wear, and permanent wear, offering a more realistic maintenance and repair experience.
- Mountains Rework in Utah DLC:
- A rework of mountains in the Utah DLC, especially around Salt Lake City, based on community feedback.
- The mountains have been redesigned from scratch, improving their scale and detail.
- Introduction of Keybind Modifiers:
- The update introduces keybind modifiers, allowing players to assign combinations of keys for actions, enhancing customization and control.
- Special Transport DLC Update:
- Introduction of two new oversized cargoes: Wind Blade & Articulated Hauler.
- The update includes new cargo routes across existing DLCs and the base game, as well as new routes starting from Pueblo in Colorado.
- Automatic Headlights Feature:
- Addition of an automatic headlights feature that activates based on ambient light conditions.
- The update also introduces automatic high beams that adjust in response to traffic conditions.
